Those are both good thoughts. I have been using realVNC since the beginning , but I will try not to use it for the next week (unless something happens) and see how it goes.

how do most configure/tweak there pvr's? keyboard/mice attached or some sort of remote access?

I use a remote, if you get the Windows Media Center remote (~$30) you wouldn't have to do a lot to get it working. I use a remote that came with my TV capture card, but other remotes will work. The wiki (http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki/) has info on what keys GBPVR uses and then you can map those keys to the buttons on your remote. I would guess people using a dedicated computer for their PVR are using a remote to control it. If you just want to control the system for this week without VNC, you could get away with just using the keyboard.

I use a Hauppage remote for all pvr functions and it works perfectly. What I meant was what do most people use for updating drivers , configuration of gbpvr and windows itself. I like the realVNC/remote access approach rather than having a keyboard or mouse sitting in the living room. And all this is assuming realVNC had something to do with my original error in the first place.

Looks similar to realVNC. If I continue to have a problem I'll switch and see how it works.

Do you use it?
