I've had several Asus videocards based on nVidia chipsets (generally Asus offers good signal quality) and now I have both a barebone with onboard ATI chipset, and a Asus 9600XT videocard in my desktop machine. The TV-out of the ATIs is slightly better than what I've experienced with nVidia. On the other hand, ATI sucks when it comes to Linux support...

it has hardware-support for dvd's. i use a p4 1,5 gig without any problems in dvd-output. i actually don't know anything about the performance of dvd-playback using a underclocked 1gig athlon. this has to be tested....
so if your system has low performance you should try to get the xcard, which has hardware dvd, mpg1, mpg2, mpg4-decoding. and an excellent tv-out.
