Thanks for the instructions - all great except the updateEPG.bat info

Firstly I find that I can't even use
C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XmltvGUI.exe /Grab
in the updateEPG.bat file since it doesnt seem to be able to find the path
Instead I am using:

CD C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\
Xmltvconsole.exe

I tried using the XmltvGUI.exe but was using \Grab which wasnt working (now I know it should be /Grab!) and found the xmltvconsole worked fine instead

Cheers

Nice work regarding XML-TV MrMing - and hats off too to Mr. Birtles. - all the XMLTV stuff worked just fine. I'll know tomorrow if UpdateEPG.BAT works. If not then I'll add the line to the CRON utility I use for other timings and let everyone know if this works.

Cheers,

I know your post was months ago - still experimenting with the 'life support' scripts I want for gbpvr and looking into command line options for xmltvgui.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it as your solution will work but for reference, the command line above should be:

"C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XmltvGUI.exe" /Grab

Notice the quotes. This ensures that Windows parses the spaces correctly as part of the directory names as opposed to a command separator.

cd is programmed to treat spaces as part of names as it only ever has one argument.

Well - I learn something new every day.

I've always used quotes around CD when the path had spaces. I'm sure somewhen in the past, it didn't work unless you used quotes. Perhaps Windows 95??? Or perhaps I'm wrong.

No - I'm sure you're right as I remember this but can't remember when it changed - after NT I think. It's these new fangled operating systems Smile Even new versions of linux seem to deduce spaces as part of names sometimes.

I always put quotes in when there's a space - that way I know what the result will be. <Old fogey Ramble>I've been had so many times in the past by the system doing something unexpected! (I once deleted the contents of an entire folder because I added a '.' into a command line when moving from one system to another. When asked 'Are you sure?' the answer's always 'YES', isn't it? By the time my brain caught up with my fingers, it was too late.) </Old fogey Ramble>

Sorry to dig up an old thread but thought it better than creating a new one!

I've tried using "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XmltvGUI.exe" /Grab
in my updateepg.bat and using windows scheduler to bring the box out of standby and execute this just before GB-PVR does its daily EPG update.

However for some reason using the command line version as above doesn't seem to pick up any of the programmes - log file shows 0 programmes found. Running the GUI version manually and hitting grab listings works fine though. Any ideas?
