I'm using GrabGuide (see http://www.cvdorperkuus.nl/download/GrabGuide.zip).
It takes the EPG info from gzipped files that are already produced by xmltv and AFAIK they contain more information than Amontillado's. It completes within seconds. Then update the EPG in GBPVR and you're sorted.

Note: the .gz files are one day per file only, so you may need to repeat this process until no further days are available.

THX Hansi,

Right now the site is down but I will try again later.
With updating, you mean that I still can run HaRr's batch file everyday through windows task manager?
Because if i have to do it manually I can better stick with XMLTV's EPG wich grabs a 7 day listing (the whole point of my operation was to automate the proces of updating the EPG daily).
But may be I misunderstood your mail.

cheers,

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]Is there anyway to edit the batchfile (I just copied it, I don't know what how to edit it

cd "\Program Files\TVGids_to_xml_new"
"C:\Program Files\TVGids_to_xml_new\TVGids_to_xml.exe"

just replace the folder name and program file names with those of the grabber of your choice.
The rest can remain the same.

I noticed that the listings in TV-gids to xml are less elaborate than the ones I pick up with regular XMLTV. (i.e. CNN etc.)
Is there anyway to edit the batchfile (I just copied it, I don't know what how to edit it)[QUOTE]
You can add or remove the channels for which you want epg data in the .ini file.
There you can also enable/disable "fastmode", the default is on, which only downloads program date and titles, fastmode off takes (much) longer but also downloads all the available additional info.
See the readme for more info.

arttext, I found that GrabGuide can in fact work much more conveniently. Initially, I ran the .vbs script and missed out the .bat file. The .bat file WILL continue until it doesn't find the next day anymore. If you edit the .vbs file to put in "GBPVR.exe -OnlyUpdateEPG" as the command to run to do the actual EPG update, this will be done in a loop for each day and the script will finish within seconds (the .gz files are very small). I'm at work now, but if you want I can send you my setup from home.

Cheers,

Hansi

THx for the advic Hansi but, as we all do, I found a solution of my own. I simply did put the XMLTV update (dos) command into a batch file and run that batchfile by scheduled tasks every night 2 hours before GB-PVR updates. A simple but effective solution. [Image: wink.gif]

About grabbing EPG listings in Holland: Did anybody else notice the lack of data from September 18, 2006, onward? Did tvgids.nl change something? It seems I receive only 2 days worth of data now, instead of the usual 7. This started sometime around 12 September 2006.

Any ideas?

I checked, and you are right.
Tvgids_to_xml reports errors like:

Code:
17-9-2006 5:53 TVGids_to_xml is gestopt, totaal: 1590 programmas opgeslagen,  benodigde minimum is: 1620
