How to assign F7 to a remote button?

Aha - I see the problem. I'm reading this on my LCD TV from across the room, and ( looks exactly like { in notepad at the font size it defaults to. So in the words of dgeezer:

This looks pretty super for you Hauppauge remote folks. Is there any similiar .ini file I can tweak to get F7 assigned to my MCE remote? (Came with my Hauppauge PVR500MCE from NewEgg.)

You cant change the builtin MCE remote handling, but you can use HIP with your MCE remote if you need to do this type of customizing.

But what about those of us that use "Direct access to Hauppauge Remote" ?

Editing irremote.ini has no effect.

I can change some settings through the KeyMappings folder, but haven't found a way to assign new keys to buttons. Also, the default buttons are wrong. Volume controls on the 45-button remote change the channel, not volume......only right and left buttons change volume (it should be both right, left, vol up and vol down).

I'm wondering if it is possible to map buttons to key(s / combinations) whilst using direct access to Hauppauge remote???

You're out of luck with this one. You'd have to switch to something other than the Direct Access to Hauppauge remote.

That said, are you sure you're using this feature? I was understanding it only worked with the PVR250 and PVR350. I could be wrong, but I didnt think it worked with the WinTV PVR USB2.

It works well with the PVR USB2. Very well except for the mapping problem. With my dual monitor setup I have GBPVR running almost fully independent. I can use the remote for GBPVR while having focus on other applications on my primary monitor (this is the main reason I use GBPVR, amongst others).

I'm sure I'm using this feature alright. I've deleted irremote.exe from startup. And I'm pretty sure I'm using PVR USB2 becuase I'm looking at a black box with a little red light with "WinTV PVR2" written on it!

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. It is hardcoded for the original Hauppauge remote. If you need to change these default keys then you'd need to switch off the direct access feature. Sorry.
