Recording playback issues

Oh, but you say the same recordings played fine before the upgrade... hmm...

Not quite...Recordings I made before the upgrade play fine. Only ones made since have the stuttering issue.

It's really starting to confuse me. The fact that new recordings play fine in Media Player Classic to me points to a Codec issue in my other media players. And yet, the fact that these media players play pre-upgrade recordings fine point to a GBPVR issue! :confused:

Since I have the exact same problems when playing back these new recordings on a completely different system, doesn't this point to a problem with the way GBPVR is making the recordings now?

Just a quick note, if you upgraded from a single to dual processor without reinstalling windows, windows won't recognize the second processor. At least that's how it worked on my Dual Athlon MP machine, it might be different with the dual-core processors, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Pretty sure that's not the case. Windows recognises a 'multiprocessor', and in task manager, I have two separate processor graphs.

If only new recordings are the problem, then it's probably a capture card issue, which is all hardware based, so gbpvr wouldn't really effect that. Only thing you could check is the capture card settings under GBPVR config, but that would only control bitrate etc. so I wouldn't think that that's the problem. Your best bet is to try and borrow a capture card from someone and see if that solves the problem.

I'm beginning to notice a few other issues with my system that I can only attribute to the dual core upgrade. Obviously my windows install has taken offence to it, so I'm going to perform a full re-format.

Hopefully providing a bit of closure to this thread...the reformat solved my GBPVR (and other!) issues. Recordings made during the problem period still playback stuttery in Power DVD, but new recordings work just fine.

Cancel that, spoke way too soon!

A scheduled recording last night has exactly the same issue - the video jumps from one frame to another with the audio staying constant.

This is now a fresh install, with the latest Hauppauge HVR-1100 drivers and Power DVD installed.

Any ideas?

Not sure if this is the solution, but I had this problem while trying to play DVD's, the sound would be fine, but the video would be like a still image slideshow. What fixed it for me was changing the audio renderer. The sound provides the synch timing for the video, so this could be the trouble for you.

Do you have reclock installed? I had issues with that on my HTPC. I installed it as my desktop required it to run video smoothly, and thought it would be necessary on my new machine. Some systems seem to need it, others don't.

If you don't, then maybe yours may. Just a thought.
