Quote:Well, I couldn't get it to produce the same problem this morning. Wierd. It was doing about every 3rd channel change last night. But, I did reproduce another very common problem, which may or may not be related. If changing the channel quickly (I just pushed channel up twice within 1 second or so), it often goes to the "Contacting Server" screen and just sits there forever. This happened this morning.
Unfortunately this is one of those mysterious times where the MVP just disconnects for some unknown reason.

I've you'd had an MVP like mine, with the serial port connected to a terminal program, then the output from the MVP probably would have told us why it disconnected. Without this info, theres no way to tell what was going on at the MVP side that caused it to disconnect.

Was that a hack and is it doable for the average flunky armed with a soldering iron? Wink

Or do you have a pre-cost reduced version?

I just ordered a wireless MVP and will be eyeballing this forum more frequently.

Its been a long time since I did it to mine, but there were instructions over at http://www.shspvr.com/smf. Its was a post in the MVP section from back in 2003/2004.

Anyone else have any other input on my stability problems? I'm at a loss and frustrated.... It seems like something is going wrong with GB-PVR every time I use it.

I'm doing some poking around myself trying to figure this out...

I have an HP Pavillion a410n. Just noticed my NIC is an on-board Intel 845GV. I don't know much about this, but the fact that it's on-board - could that be contributing to my problems? Does anyone know whether ornot this NIC has process offloading or not? I don't really know what that is, just read in another thread that if your NIC doesn't have this, you could have problems with an MVP.

Hi mkuyper, as I'm serving the dongles at the moment (Jksmurf is taking a well deserved time out) I saw in the dongle thread you had quite some problems before.
1- what mvp do you have, a rev H2 or H3, they were both mentioned in that thread.
2- Did you make any of the changes that we were talking about then,
like giving your system a static ip etc.

I have an H2.

I switched to dongle 3.0.24088 per jksmurf's suggestion.

I also gave my system a static IP per his suggestion.

"I believe my video card is integrated on my processor (I have an HP a410n computer)"

-- this may or may not be of limited general interest, but it sounds like you have integrated graphics on your motherboard. No mainstream processor and certainly not the celeron has on board graphics, although you never know maybe sometime in the future Wink

Thanks for claring this up.
Did you als make the adjustments in the router, to make sure that the mvp wouldn't get assigned the ip that you assigned to your system.
You don't have any other systems on the network or a wireless device.
Does your modem-router also work wireless?

Sorry just trying to get info.

If I go into the Active User List on my Actiontec 1524 DSL Gateway, all it show is 192.168.0.2, which is the static IP I assigned to my computer. I have it set up so 192.168.0.1 is my default gateway, 192.168.0.2 is my computer's IP address, 192.168.0.20 is my beginning IP address for other devices(set in advanced setup on router).

No other systems on the network.

Not wireless.
