All I did was share the servers program directory ..\devnz\gbpvr and put this and the server name into the third page of the client PC config. I chose 'streaming'.

I've not had enough chance to fully play and not needed to tweak any values in config.xml (so far?).

Thanks guys for you're responses...

Did try the repair option.... No luck
Shared the gbpvr program dir and put that path in the config app... No luck
Changed paths on the server site o.a g:\recordings to \\servername\recordings.....No luck
Changed from file sharing to streaming. GBPVR on client site crashed......No luck

I have no firewalls installed and i can play the recorded files with windows mediaplayer on the client machine. I upgraded the server from 97.7 to 98.8b and the client pc from 97.8 to 98.8 ( for so far i can remember good)

I have attached the log files from the client in case someone can read in the logs what is going on.

Thanks in advance

This doesnt look right...Normally these would be two entirely differnt paths.

What is your recordings directory set to on the server? I'm wondering if the recordings have been moved out of the GB-PVR Recordings Directory to somewhere else?

Sub,

My recording dir on the server site is g:\video\video recorded files. I did never move recordings to other locations. Normaly i always watch recordings with my mediaMVP in the livingroom without problems and never watch someting on the GBPVR server. But now with the problems on the client site i was wondering if it runs on the serversite but it doesn't. I get the same error as on the client site.

Maybe the recordings database on the server is corrupt ? I have included the logs from the server (copied after the try)

Is it useful to delete GBPVR on the client site and do a fresh install ?

I don't know if it has got anything to do with your problem, but I saw an error ith a mail-checking plugin.
Maybe try first without plugins, delete all dll's from the plugin dir.
What mpgdecoder do you have installed.

none, the mpgdecoder is the software one. I remember from the wiki during install i had to choose that one when you have a pvr350.

After diner i will delete the plugins and test the config.

Don

I just had diner (my daughter was the cook todaySmile ).
You were right choosing software encoding, but if you want to watch a recording on your server, there has to be an decoder installed. Did you install Wintv2000, if so, does it work?
In the config-playback where you set your mpgdecoder you can see in the dropdown box which decoders you can choose from.

You're using the File Sharing client mode, which effectively the path to recordings before it plays them. For example...

On my server I have have a recording stored at c:\Recordings\Lost\some-episode.mpg.

When this recording is played on the client, it uses the 'Recordings Share' setting from the (client) config app to translate this path. Imagine I had this settings set to \\server\recordings.

When the playback begins "c:\Recordings\Lost\some-episode.mpg" is translated into "\\server\recordings\lost\some-episode.mpg" (by replacing the "c:\Recordings" part of the path with \\server\recordings).

Strangely your logs show it is trying to translate G:\Video\Video Recorded Files\Teletubbies\Teletubbies_20060801_14101435.mpg into G:\Video\Video Recorded Files\Teletubbies\Teletubbies_20060801_14101435.mpg (ie, no translation).

What setting do you have in the client's config app for 'Recordings Share'?

Your server should have "g:\recordings" set as the recording path. You client should have "\\server\recordings" where 'recordings' is the name for the 'g:\recordings' share on the server. I hope that makes sense...

Sub / Htv,

I have Wintv2000 installed and it works. Read below all the settings I have for playback. I unchecked all the plugins in GBPVR config and removed all the plugins. Still no play back on the server.

I deinstalled the client GBPVR and reinstalled it but still the same result. O and I have \\Mediasystem\G\Video\Video Recorded Files as the recording share on the client site.

I think the best way is to reinstall everything (client and server) because everyting seems (for so far I can see) ok

Thanks in advance guys....

Don
