Did you try changing your audio decoder/renderer in config-playback, as sub suggested? If the setting is: system-default, then it's very well possible that it has changed when installing something. You should really choose a decoder/renderer, not just stick to system-default.

thx for the answer HTV

ive tried using diffrent combos in the playback decoder setting, none worked.
The funny thing ive noticed now is that i get the stuttering in VLC as WELL!!! dosent VLC use its own codecs....I think i will devote tomorrow for reinstalling windows and see if that helps, i really see no other option! nothing seems to work...

thx

ok reinstalling windows! :o

i gave up on everything...i figured that just trying to fix it will equel the time of a new windows install....SO....just to make sure i dont do the same mistake again
a)what codecs do you guys think are "safe" for divx/xvid playback (other then the default wintv-150 intervideo ones)
b)do i need to install directx 9c?
c)any other stuff i shoudlnt do Big Grin ?

thx alot

codecs: I guess ffdshow should do, at least it can be uninstalled easily.
Make sure you only use it for decoding avi's, not mpg's. In the beginning I wouldn't use the ffdshow filters. Make it work first without them.

After a clean install, and before you play with GB-PVR, download and install the k-lite mega codec pack. Go with a custom install and select everything Intervideo (MPG decoders and such)

Make sure that vids will playback correctly in Windows Media Player. Even acrossthe network.. If it still doesn't, it's no longer a GBPVR but something else.

However, I do think that that mega pack will work great for you... It includes ffdshow and several other utilities that are all set to work together...

HELPPPPPP!!!

I am going insane here guys.....

installed windows again with all the works (SP2 etc...) and then followed up the clean install (which i have a ghost image this time!) with the k-lite codecs..played a divx video on WMP.....IT STILL STUTTERS......Sad Sad !

i know now at least its not GB-PVR but really what else can i do!?!? ive done the quartz thing, tried diffrent codecs etc....i really dont know what todo now, watching divx-xvids is really important to me and its really unbearable this way....
It never used to be this way with the same hardware (ive watched video on this computer perfectly for quite a few years...) and i dont thing it can be related to defective hardware (can it?), could it be the Sp2, i dont see what else can do it, really.

hope someone could still help

Hate to say this but, assuming that Windows was installed correctly, you now have a hradware issue. I picked up on one phrase you wrote indicating successfuly playing DIVX for 'Years'. Well No One wants to admit it but everything gets old...

if you have the option, I would try swapping out parts. Video card, RAM, (Remove all other cards - even the tuner cards) -- each step one at a time, and see if the computer will play the divx in windows media player...

Maybe it's fate telling you to take advantage of the great prices lately (I hope they're great for you too)

I can't count the times I've heard people say when something is broken down:"How is that possible it was working ok yesterday"Smile
