I have seen this on mine when I did some hardware changes.

I'd get the latest video drviers and reinstall them, then try it again.

The 6200 uses Turbocache (TC) which supplements video memory from system RAM. Try closing down programmes so you're running minimal apps. Also, check for apps which don't release memory after being shut down.

It's why I decided against that model when I built my HTPC. Went with a 6600LE instead. Haven't tried it with HDTV, though. Next year, hopefully Rolleyes
HTPC:
AMD 643000+ & Zalman 7000alcu cooler
MSI K8N Neo4-f mobo
1GB DDR3200 RAM
MSI NX6600LE video card
2x Hauppauge 150MCE tuner card
40GB PATA HDD (including boot partition)
160GB SATA HDD
250GB SATA HDD
Cordless keyboard/mouse combo
WinXP Pro w SP2

rwmech,

Thanks for the guide. I pulled the trigger and got my air2pc card this week. It works great. It was a piece of cake to install and configure. $39 for the card shipped and $30 for the antenna shipped. Can't beat that.

Thanks,
Brian

I forgot. I do have a question. I have to run mine using Overlay. When I use VMR9 or 7 the picutre is jerky. I have a GeForce5700 with PureVideo and Hardware Acceleration. The CPU is around 25%. Are you able to run using VMR9 with this card?

Nope, I'm stuck with overlay on my 5200. Looking at the nvidia site it looks like the 6800 and up may support the HD with VMR, i'm hoping that santa is good to me. Smile

The older ones don't, I have one of those. This may be PAL specific, but for me enabling the 'smart' deinterlacing option in the Purevideo decoder properties pretty much kills my framerate - erratic jerking all over the place. On 'auto' it's mostly smooth, with only occasional minor jerks, and (on PAL at least) still provides perfect VMR9 deinterlacing.
GBPVR System:
XP Pro SP2, AMD XP1800+, 512MB DDR, NVidia 6200 AGP (1.90.62 drivers), PVR-150 (2.0.43.24108 drivers), nVidia Purevideo Mpeg2 codec, PVRX2 1.4.7

This behavior is fairly well known and not PAL-specific or even specific to your processor (I've a 6600 and see it). Smart deinterlacing enables an adaptive deinterlacing algorithm while auto deinterlacing uses a static profile based on reported media type (film or video). The algorithm apparently eats enough GPU to affect frame rate.

The funny thing about it in my case is that smart deinterlacing works acceptably well with full HD program carried over HD ATSC channels, but drops a LOT of frames when displaying SD program carried over HD ATSC channels. It's as if the GPU has to work harder displaying less accurate but high datarate material.

Automatic mode works fine and doesn't drop anywhere near as many frames so I use it as a good balance.

Don't know if this is the right thread for this but here goes

My setup is shown below in my signature. I am sending out a 1080i component signal to my display. Right now I am just watching standard definition analog signals which, I suppose, are being upscaled by the GPU to 1080i. Using VMR9, there is a substantial amount of "jerkyness" in the video both real time and recorded media. If I do nothing but switch to VMR7 things are VERY much improved; very smooth playback. Is this a problem with the GPU, the video decoder (nvidia Pure video), the quartz.dll bug or something else. If this has been addressed elsewhere please provide a link.

Thanks!
Bill

Thank you for the information. I also am interested in recording HD over the air signals. Will all Technisat cards record HD signals?

Yes. If you have this card and GBPVR you can record OTA HD.
