What he and I said is: s-video is in the scart. So if you use scart you should be fine. In the tv-settings you might want to check out the scart settings to see if they are right for the mvp: select RGB if possible. As JohnD said your TV might very well do this automaticly.

I have set up Media MVP and installed the software and can select and play music across the LAN. I have installed GB-PVR on the PC and am wondering where I go from here with regard to useing GB-PVR interface rather than Media MVP. I have looked at the set up screen for GB-PVR and am not sure exactly where to start. Am I correct in thinking that I can do everything that Media MVP does plus a whole lot more with GB-PVR or do I need to integrate them in some way to get the record and playback of GB-PVR with the file sharing aspects of Media MVP?Smile

Did you read this part of the wiki? If not, do so Smile

Otherwise we'll have to back up a few steps and get a common ground to start from Wink

Thanks stephan
I came to the forum with a particular question and followed it through and obviously missed some important logical steps. I will study the link you have provided and hopefully fill in some of the gaps.Smile

I have been trying to work my way through the setup instructions, but I think I need walking through this piece by piece (I hope you can put up a bit of spoon feeding) I need to get some basics correct for example setting up my TV-PVR-150 capture card I cant get it to find any channels across the LAN and I cant find any reference in the manual as to how to do it, which imput source should I choose from the dropdown list to ensure it is looking to the TV across the LAN via S-video.

Let's start from the beginning, then Smile (Please bear in mind that I don't actually have an MVP myself - I've never seen one, so I might be off on certain bits).

1) The capture card (pvr-150) goes into a computer, which we will from now on call the gbpvr computer.

2) The capture card can take inputs in two ways (either or both (but not at the same exact time)):
a) from a coax cable directly from your roof top antenna or your cable tv outlet (in which case the card will act as an "internal tuner"), or
b) from a set top box (STB) (either through coax cable between the STB and the pvr-150 or through s-video between the STB and the pvr-150)

If you get the computer set up this way, you have a "normal" gbpcr installation. You can now (if everything is installed and configured correctly watch tv on your monitor, or, if you have a tv-out on your graphics card and your computer next to your tv, on your tv set)

Now, you have an MVP on your hands. The MVP will allow you to use GBPVR on another tv set, not located near your gbpvr computer, but near an LAN network outlet. In theory, if you have your gbpvr computer set up and working, you should "only" have to set the gbpvr config to "auto start" 1 mvp server, and then plug in your MVP in your LAN outlet (and the scart or s-video (depending on which part of the world you live in) into your tv). When you boot the MVP it should find the gbpvr computer automatically and you are good to go.

So, my suggestion is that we make sure you have a working gbpvr computer setup before trying the MVP. Hence: what is your status on the gbpvr computer setup?
