According to the list here, it is nativly supported. Assume your in the UK 'homebrewpc' with a card like that?

Hi, Thank you for your reply. I'm not 100% sure what is possibly incompatible but I've just read on the PCAnswers forum (the magazine who published the PVR project that I'm trying to follow) that, there's a possibility that the PVR that I'm trying to put together won't work. I'm disappointed that PCAnswers do not seem to have followed this project through thoroughly enough from start to finish particularly as I've spent hard earn't cash buying the exact hardware that was recommended in the project.

http://forum.pcanswers.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=34996

I'm hoping that Nebula Electronics DigiTV USB DVB-T is compatible with GB-PVR however right now I can only assume that it is this device that's being questioned where compatibility issues are concerned.

Just my luck :-(.

If anyone can offer suggestions as to how I can get this project up and running that would be appreciated.

Thank you :-).

P.S. Yes, I am a right-pondie :-).

For a long time BDA drivers were only available for their PCI models. I see they're now available for the USB model too.

It should work, but as the first person to attempt it, you'll need to add a section to the bda.ini with the appropriate names for this card. You can find some instructions here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardw...aptureCard

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated. I'll read through the AddCaptureCard page(s) on the pmwiki however can I ask what exactly a BDA driver is before I go there?.

Thank you :-).
Best Regards.

Hi Stefan, Thank you for your reply. I hope that Nebula are supported as this was the only reason why I'd bought a Nebula-Electronics DVB-T product as opposed to another on the market as their products (some 5-6 months ago) were twice the price of their equivalents.

Just my luck :-(.

I've installed the drivers for my Media MVP and it boots up whilst connected to my Mini-ITX PC with a cross-over cable, however, since installing GB-PVR I'm unable to get my Media MVP to boot up. Are there any preliminary checks that I need to make to ensure that I am going about all of this correctly?.

Thank you :-).

In the old days, there were no standards, and every manufacturer used to write there drivers a different way. An application would have needed to implement specific support for each manufactures proprietary standard for those devices to work.

A couple of years back, Microsoft introduced this new BDA driver standard, meaning GB-PVR could implement support for BDA compliant drivers and automatically work with any future devices that used the BDA standard.

Now days nearly all manufacturers produce BDA drivers. Some are still in the process of transitioning and still have their proprietary drivers as an option. This is case with Nebula, so you need to make sure you're using the BDA variety of their drivers, see: http://www.nebula-electronics.com/downlo...nloads.asp

Hi, Thank you. Much appreciated. I've a better understanding what a BDA driver is now Smile .

I'd like to get my Nebula-Electronics DigiTV USB DVB-T to work under GB-PVR however think that I might opt for something like a Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-T-500 instead as I'd like dual tuners (rather than buying a DigiTV Slave device to use with the DigiTV Master device that I'd bought 5-6 months ago).

Not giving up at this stage though as would like to get my Nebula-Electronics DigiTV USB DVB-T to work.

Just out of interest does the Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-T-500 work with GB-PVR 'straight out of the box' so to speak?.

Thank you :-).

P.S. If there's another DVB-T USB or PCI device that you recommend (that's available to buy in the U.K.) please advise further.

It only really appeared on the market after the last GB-PVR release, so its in the same situation of needing a section added to bda.ini, but this is section is already listed on the forum in a few posts, and has been successfully in use by a few users. The next release will include it 'out of the box'.

Hi,

Am following the above URL and am stuck at the following....

To find the names of the filters, open GraphEdit (link below) and select Graph→Insert Filters… (or type Ctrl-F) Click the ‘+’ next to BDA Receiver Component and BDA Source Filters In the BDA Receiver Component Section ignore the BDA MPE Filter and BDA Slip De-Framer and note the name of the next filter in the list. BDA Source Filters should only list one filter unless you’ve installed multiple TV cards.

There are no BDA Receiver Component and BDA Source Filters In the BDA Receiver Component Section but BDA CP/CA Filters and BDA Transport Information Renderers. - Please advise which one's need to be selected.

Please also advise what needs to be done with the BDA drivers downloaded from the Nebula-Electronics web-site.

Thank you :-).

It sounds like you're running the proprietary Nebula drivers instead of the BDA ones. These are the drivers you'd need to install: http://www.nebula-electronics.com/downlo...rivers.asp

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. How do I need to go about installing the USB BDA drivers that I've downloaded?. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall using these?.

Apologies for being so ignorant.

Thank you :-).

- BDA drivers have now been installed. Am following the Setting Up A Capture Source page on the Wiki :-).

- Completely lost at the Tvxb installation :-(. Is there no quick set-up guide for this?.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
