I'd also definitely not be testing with those HomePlug adapters until you've got it working well with a wired connection.

Hi Sub,

Thank you for your reply. I've not been convinced that the Zyxel HomePlug Adpaters were working properly so thought that I'd try hooking my MVP to my router and attaching the AV Out of my MVP to a wireless video sender. Anyway I am pleased to confirm that video playback is working flawlessly. Not tried Live TV however shall do so and post findings on this thread.

The only slightly frustrating thing with the use of an MVP that I've found is that the Remote Control for my MVP is interfering with my Teco/Viewsonic TV (pressing buttons on the MVP Remote Control forces TV to go into setup, adjusting resolution/changing volume). The only thing that I can think of to get around this is to position the receiver of my wireless video sender as far away from my TV as possible however the AV In lead is not long enough to position too far away.

Is there any other way around this problem?. Can the Remote Control that came with my Nebula-Electronics USB DVB-T Receiver be used in conjunction with GB-PVR and a Hauppauge Media MVP?.

Thank you Smile.

I was using two 85Mbps home plug adapaters for about 6 months. They worked well until I had to move my office to a different room at home, then they became unreliable - sometimes good, sometimes very slow and stuttery. Luckily my new office had easy access to wire network, so I havnt had to use them since. I'm guessing the electrical wiring between all rooms wasnt equal...

No, the MVP will only work with the IR signals produced by an MVP remote.

Hi Sub, Thank you for your reply. Think that buying two 85Mbps HomePlug Adapters wasn't a good idea (bought these specifically for use with GB-PVR as don't have the wireless version of Media MVP). Certainly learning as I go along. Don't think that these devices like working through surge protectors either (think that some manufacturers advise not to use with surge protected outlets). These seem to work alright for MP3 playback but not for video playback.

Tried Live TV and my MVP isn't rebooting but saying that there aren't any tuners available and says that I can choose to watch one of the channels that are recording, however, there is no option to do this only a 'don't watch TV' option.

Live TV is working alright on host PC but not via MVP (error message as above).

Spoke too soon Sad. Error message is now shown whilst trying to watch Live TV. 'Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it'.

Any ideas?.

Thank you again Smile.

Hi,

Think that the problem with my Media MVP rebooting and saying that there were no tuners available for watching Live TV (amongst other error messages) was due to the fact that the two video senders that I've tried to use to transmit AV from my Media MVP to my TV was interfering with my wireless network. Tried several channels on both video sender and wireless router.

Hooked up Media MVP via quite a large length of CAT5 Ethernet cable to verify whether or not my Media MVP was faulty and Live TV is working.

Thought that I'd post back here just in case other users of GB-PVR are having the same problems with using a video sender to transmit AV from a Media MVP hooked up to a router to a TV in another room as opposed to the same room as they have their GB-PVR PC running in.

Does anyone know of any video sender device that does not cause problems with wireless networks (and vice versa)?.

Thank you Smile.

You can get 5.7Ghz(?) video senders, or something like that. Most are 2.4Ghz.

Hi Sub,

Thank you for your reply. All of the video senders that I've tried are 2.4GHz and either video or audio has been problematic due to these devices operating on the same frequency as my wireless network. Tried four video senders in all. Am not aware of any 5.7GHz video senders that are available in the U.K. however shall try and find out more info' on this.

Two more questions regarding jirky video playback occasionally let's say 15-mins through watching a recording my Media MVP goes back to the Recordings menu. Any ideas why this is happening?.

Secondly, do you know if there's any way that partially played-back recordings can be resumed if exited or do recordings start from the beginning as soon as they are exited?.

Thank you Smile.

I know they exist because I have a set of these in a draw here somewhere. I just checked and they're 5.8GHz. I bought mine of ebay ages ago, but here is the same device: http://www.jaycar.com/productView.asp?ID...&SUBCATID=

I dont know, its not a problem I'm aware of. (I'm assuming your videos a .MPG files, not .AVI files)

You can turn on 'prompt for resume' in the config app.

Hi Sub,

Thank you. How do I need to go about checking whether .mpg or .avi files (I've left everything on default that I'm aware of). I'd like to playback recorded programs via the web-interface but am still confused where this is concerned Sad.

Regarding resuming programs glad to hear that this feature has been inclided. Shall turn on 'prompt for resume' straight away. Not sure whether or not 5.7GHz is a legal frequency in the U.K. however shall check on this.

Thank you Smile.

P.S. Clicked on a recording via web-interface and can confirm that programs are being recorded in .m3u format. Is this .mpg format?. Error message pops up once WMP opens 'A plug-in is required to correctly play the file. To determine if a plug-in is available to download click Web Help' (from what I can remember there aren't any available plug-ins).

Just have a look if the file you're trying to play has the .avi or .mpg extension on the file. Sorry, but if you cant work this out, then this is probably not the app for you.

I've never done this myself, so cant help you with this.
