Hardware decoding is used only by th3 haupppauge 350 and the sigma cards, it's for viewing recordings, so your ati 550 does not have a hardware decoder so you have to choose software decoding and thus need a mpg-decoder installed.
You do have a hardware-encoder on the 550, so you have to set up a capture-source in config-capture sources. You choose the direct recording plugin - choose your card, setup a epg source etc. Then you should be fine.

Hi all still having problem with freezing with the client.

if I use the + and - to change channels or when I manually type the station in. if I use the TVguide it does not freeze.

I've upgraded the tuner card to a PVR-500MCE (Hauppauge) I still get freezing.
running on P4 2.66 (server) with 1gb ram

also note: when the PVR app is sitting on the secondary monitor ( defined by display settings in windows) the TV will not start. this is in client mode. I have to set the TV to primary display and then the TV will work.

I solved one problem (network drops) now I just need some one to solve the changing of channel problem. once that is fixed it will be perfect!
