yes, you'll have to download it from sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/gplmpgdec/
get the msi installer & install the codec, after that select it in config.exe under playback, video decoder sub Wrote:Yep, what he said. curiosity killed the cat ![]()

Downloaded and installed the GPL MPEG2 codec. Doesnt seem to have made any difference. I,m starting to wonder if its the coax perhaps. Strange thing is, the picture was good not so long ago( on wintv2000 )
What do you think K.S. Thanks for your help so far

You could try the Nvidia PureVideo Codec - I think there is a free trial (not sure if it is limited to nvidia boards
When I was trying to find the decoder sweet spot a few releases ago this gave me the best results - However when I upgraded to 99.5 I also upgraded the motherboard, cpu and hard drives, didn't install the Nividia software and have excellent results so YMMV

You could raise the default bitrate for livetv in direct.ini, and for recording you could raise the bitrate for the medium level which is used for quick record. This can be done in config-capt.sources-directrec.plugin. I can't compare the settings for wintv and gbpvr at the moment. Could be dangerous with the wife watching a show after a day of very hard work.
![]() Edit: The interference lines could also be due to either coax/svideo cable.

Ive downloaded nvidia purecodec, but it says its a trial copy, but it asks for a reg code, but doesnt supply one, so it wont install.
Bit weird really. It seems to be a trial copy for someone whos already purchased it!!!??

I really doubt it's a decoder problem, because the picture is/was ok in wintv2000.

For livetv open direct.ini it's in your gbpvr-dir.
look for this part: Code: [SETUP-LiveTV Quality] Raise the bitrate to e.g 4500, like I did. For recording you can also record with a higher level (for testing), it's in the pop up when you click on record (I think)
