I've found and fixed the problem related to director name; it will be in the next build. Writer information is not fetched at all at the moment. I'll add this to my "to do" list.

Does this version enable thetvdb.com/TV.com lookups for videos that we've downloaded or ripped? (not recordings)

It does do lookup for recordings based on the name and subtitle information in the database to try to determine the season and episode number. Is that what you mean?

I meant for non-recordings... meaning files that we have downloaded from the internet or ripped from a DVD and want to play in GBPVR.. (they were not recorded and are therefore not in the GBPVR database)..

for instance, I have some dvd-rips of Star Trek episodes in a folder, and I would like VA to lookup the episode information for them, which are readily available in xml format on thetvdb.com.. there was a thread about this before where folks really missed this as the huge feature missing from VA that the older My Videos plugin had.

What is the format of the file name and or directory? Could I do a look-up based just on the name for example to find the episode?

yep, you can just use the filename... here's an example of the format:

Star Trek TNG - 7x03 - Interface.avi

show : Star Trek TNG
season: 7
episode #: 3
title: Interface

Yep, you've interpreted it correctly.

Yeah, this is a standard naming convention for TV episode rips.. hopefully it should be easy to parse since you can easily make out the season, episode number, and title from the filename.
