That has been my experience as well for SD digital. I keep hoping that a non microsoft mux comes along that records HD atsc directly to .mpg, since I would love to stream live hd atsc to a client...on second thought, not being able to do this has caused me to record more stuff and then I benefit from comskip and the lack of commecials when I do watch.

okay, wrestled the tv from my wife long enough to find out that it is, in fact, recording as .ts files.

I guess this begs the question of what next. do they have to be muxed into a different filetype first?

What version of Comskip are you using? Try a newer version. 79.97 works fine for me on .ts files.
