Okay, can anyone tell me what the screenshot I posted means? Do I need to reinstall? I'm prevented from going any further since the program won't even load properly when you run it.

Other than that, I have these Confusion areas:

GB-PVR Config:
-Playback-
Software Mpeg2 decoder:
Which setting to use?

Video Decoder? Audio Decoder?

-DVD & Remote-
DVD Playback
Video Decoder? Audio Decoder?

Remote Control Type
Default (Hauppauge)

I currently have defaults for all of those.
In 'Edit Recording Source' setting, under Channel Changer, I have:
.exe Channel Plugin (pointed at HaupBlast.exe)

Other concern/uncertainty:
Remote Type: Default (Hauppauge)
But, when I click 'Fix Hauppauge Remote Settings (45 button)', I get a message back telling me to Restart the IR. That just starts the WinTV Remote (program). What is the point of this?!?

Oops, posted twice. I would like to add that PVRX2 has the same response as the GBPVR program. It starts and paints the screen whatever you have on the desktop. It's crashing, I guess.

I can use any Software Decoder so which one is recommended? I don't know if I can use 'Default.' Two, I have the Hauppauge remote part not fully set up. I hope someone recognizes what is wrong.

Update!: I got the guide to work finally. I changed 'Video Renderer' setting from 'VMR9 Custom' to 'VMR9.' Did that do it? I don't know but I didn't tweak any settings after that and tried again to start gbpvr. The guide came up and I tried live TV. All I got was 'snow' but I'm getting closer, maybe?

ATI Sapphire Radeon X300SE. Driver: ATI, ver. 8.221.0.0

I have a picture now and can change the channels. But, the picture is in black and white. I suspect this happens or is a common situation. I don't know what that means, though. Can anyone help me? I know, I am impatient but I like shortcuts, sorry. ;-)

if you are running an svideo cable out to your CRT tv then this means that your scart input is composite only and not s-video. If this is the case, you need some kind of svideo to compiste convertor (yuk) or a new TV $$$

I'm using an SA Explorer 2000 set top box and the s-video cable goes from there into the PVR 150 capture card and I'm using an LCD monitor and it's plugged into a Sapphire Radeon X300SE video card. These video combinations really confuse me and I guess I don't understand the workings sufficiently. But, I have had this kind of set up before using MythTv and didn't have a black and white picture. I know this should work but I'm not having much luck troubleshooting this problem.

ok so it's not that problem then (which is a common cause of b&W pictures).

So, the gbpvr gui display ok and is on colour and you can watch tv but the tv image is in b&w. Is this correct?

If so, the conversion to b&w is being caused either by the PVR-150, your mpeg decoder or your graphics card video setting (in the ATI control centre).

you could try installing wintv supplied with the pvr-150 cd/download and see how that works.

What mpeg decoder have you selected?

as Sub requested earlier, you need to post a set of logs so people can see what settings you have. The best thing to do is to shutdown gbpvr, the recording service and the gbpvrtray, delete all the logs from the log folder, restart the recording service and gbpvr, watch tv, quit, zip and attach all the files in the log folder.
