Its also possible that it only happens if I navigate the GUI using the keyboard.
You dont have the slimm tray utility installed? This has functionality to restart the recording service

You definitely havnt hit the OK button in the config app during this time? This also stops and restart the recording service.

stustunz, can you enable log flushing and reproduce the problem again, and repost the logs? You current logs are cut short, so dont show the problem.

Log flushing seems still seems to be disabled, so I dont get the all important end of the log files. Can you enable log flushing and reproduce the problem again, and repost the logs?

Sub, never heard of the slimm tray utility, much less installed it. I guess there must be something unique about my installation or the way I'm interacting with the GUI otherwise lots more people would be complaining.

It definitely started when I switched to v1.0.16. I definitely have to record and cancel something before I see the problem. The recording service shuts down as I restart PVRX2.

I just tried the record-wait-cancel-quit-restart sequence again, but this time the recording service did not restart. Maybe I didn't wait long enough? Maybe the previous times I used record on the remote and this time I used the keyboard? I've also tried pause-wait-stop-quit-restart, but not managed to reproduce the problem using this method yet.

This weekend was meant to be install a new TV tuner in the living room media PC and play around with trying to get streaming working but one of the dual DVB-T tuners isn't working and I've spent several hours investigating this problem instead. Such is life.

have you done the .net fix

it would seem to me after you have cancelled a recording then start a new one if you use esc to get back to main menu it is some how stopping the recording
if i use the mouse right click this does not happen

crap wrong again i give up

If either of you guys can describe the set of steps to reproduce this, then I'll provide a fix.

Hmm, my problem might have been the .net remote Micro$oft crash bug manifesting itself differently - the recording service reporting that it had been told to close rather than crashing.

My problem was easy to reproduce - go to the TV guide, start recording the current programme, leave the TV guide displayed for 5 minutes, cancel the recording, quit PVRX2 and restart; as soon as the GUI restarted the recording service shut down.

Since installing the .net hot fix I can't reproduce the problem (so far). The question is, if this is the problem, why has v1.0.8 been working fine for the past few weeks?

Ok cool. It'll be interesting to hear if the problem returns or not.
