Another QAM Question

Wow, I even tried ATSC with a HD antenna, I'm only 15 miles from the towers and I get nothing at all on the digital side. Analog side works fine. I wonder if this card is junk.

Does WinTV pick up these channels?

No, no channels at all in wintv. I've tried QAM with cable connected, ATSC with antenna and I get nothing. The analog side works fine. I've removed all haup drivers, moved the card to different slots, reinstalled and it's still not functioning.

ok, if there is no channels in WinTV then it'd most likely be the same in GB-PVR.

There was a Hauppauge signal strenght tool posted here recently. It be worth trying that to see what it says (ie, low signal or no signal).

Thanks Sub! I figured it would be a no-go in GBPVR if the haup app couldn't find any channels. Posted here instead of the support forum, just hoping someone else may have has this problem and figured it out.

Another option is to download the program TSReader lite. This is a free program that now includes the drivers for the HVR 1600. You can just input a known ATSC channel you want and see what it finds without a lengty scan. I only have a telescopic antenna and I had to you use this to find a position that would give me an ATSC signal. Adjusting with WinTV is possible and difficult.

For QAM you can try something similar if you know the channel to tune. For example if your television shows something like 112.5 for a channel enter 112. I found my frequencies on my STB's diagnostic page.

Thanks for the tips. I don't have a STB, just cable from the wall so I have no way of knowing what my freq's are for the QAM feeds. I was able to finally tune in ATSC stations from an antenna using an old cable signal booster I had laying around. I really don't understand why my TV will pick up QAM no problem but this card won't find anything at all. Anyway, I guess I can live with the ATSC stations until I get digital hi def cable
