ACTCMS Wrote:The reason I ask is because Live TV will normally use your last tuner which is probably Nova tuner 2 and recording uses the first which is possibly Nova tuner 1 and as martin123 saysI had one of them last year.

You need to do two recordings at the same time to test recordings on tuner 2.

I've advoided doing two parallel recording in case it's a machine problem but I'll try overnight.

As far as signal quality is concerned, the tool suggested by martin123 lets you see what the quality is at each of the tuners.

As gEd suggested, your antenna is important - I had all sorts of problems until I (like you) had a new one installed.

Hence why I have a new aerial fitted before I even tried a freeview card!

Yes I been here, when I set the card up, I was interested to be asked by GBPVR which transmitter.... I had to hunt around on internet and found this website... All the freeview boxes I used somehow lock on automatically (except my parent which found the 'wrong transmitter.. but I digress)

I'm no expert at this DVB stuff, but there is an awful lot in the second log that I don't see myself and isn't in the first log. Now if it's good or bad - I have no idea.

Looks like verbose output was switched on for the second tuner scan (option 8)...

Trying two simultaneous recordings won't cause any problems. From what you say, you only need to make a couple of 15 min recordings.

Also, I'm still not clear if Live TV is working for you on the Nova or not.

It may be that your problem is with your config settings but it would be really helpful to know exactly what works or doesn't works with each tuner before you start playing with them.

I would suggest that you use Film4 and ITV2+1 for testing since they are on the mux with the strongest signal...

Live TV is fine & working perfectly

Live TV is fine on either tuner on the NOVA 500. Recording from Either tuner jumps/skips

I'll test when everyone goes out swimming....

On the config/misc tab what do have set for BDA Multiplexer - if you have a choice, try making new recordings with a different one...

On the Playback tab, what settings do you have for Software MPEG-2 Playback - you might want to play with them too - note that leaving them as default is not always the best option...

Also, are you using comskip?

Testing the failed recordings with VLC and/or WMP might show if the problem is at the recording stage or at the playback stage.

the BDA Multiplexer is set to Cyberlink an I'm using 1307 Mux according to BDAchecker and it's the only mux regestered.

I've just swapped to DVR-MS recording to see how that is.

I have these set to the nVidia Pure Decoders these work best on my machine...

Nope. And I'm not doing any transcoding or anything either.

Tested on three different machines using the same physical recording. My IBM Thinkpad, My Dev machine with Visual Studio and the GBPVR machine in the lounge. all jump.

Therefore I thinking it's during the recording progress.

If its occurring during recording time, then this has pretty much got to be either your signal or the mux filter you're using.

Right latest feedback, :mad::mad::mad:

Tried DVR-MS encoding last night, and that just as bad....

Therefore I'm going to throw this Nova 500T in the bin.

You've all been great... either I've got a crap card or this is never going to work. I borrowed a friends view box (cost her £9.95) and it's cracking picture no hassles etc.

therefore to be honest it would be less hassle to get buy a free view box and get another PVR150 and connect to it over a scart cable...

Out of interest what hauppauge drivers are you using ?? this is only thing left....
I've using the version 4.0 CD which according the hauppauge forum has a 'few' issues...

driver: 4.3.25080. I never use the cd that comes with any device that I buy!

Before you throw the card out:-

check system information (accessories, system tools) and see what other devices the 500 is sharing an IRQ with. Perhaps move the tuner to a different pci slot.

try the pci latency tool i mentioned about. I can't be 100% sure about this but it is quick and easy to try.
