Inf your logs it doesnt look like you have an appropriate directshow audio/video decoder combination for playing a DVD. What options are listed for both of these decoder types on the DVD tab of the config app?

Hi sub, thanks for your response.
As you can see from the attachment, everything is on default.
Also if I drop down on "Video Decoder" I don't have any other options but "System Default"
Cheers

You're best to explicitly pick a decoder rather than relying on 'system default'. Setting it to this causes windows to pick some random decoder, if there are any one your system, and it may not be a good decoder.

Given you dont have any decoders listed, this is a pretty good sign you dont have a usable decoder on your machine.

Hmmmmmm... so what is the solution?
I installed K-lite mega codec, but the "Video Decoder" still has no other options on the dropdown. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Also the "..." button after Video Decoder does nothing?
And I have windows media 11 installed - shouldn't that show up in the "DVD Navigator" drop down as currently it is not.

Use a video decoder that is compatible with DVD playback and VMR9, like installing a recent version of PowerDVD and selecting the Cyberlink decoders on the DVD tab.

"DVD Navigator" is the Microsoft navigator, and is fine for DVD playback.

Yeah, that seems to be my problem. I installed PowerDVD 8 and GBPVR doesn't show it on the DVD tab as a selectable option for either "DVD navigator" or "Video Decoder"

Dont worry about the DVD navigator.

To get the video decoder to show up, try adding "CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8)" to the <SupportedDVDDecoders> setting in config.xml.

Thanks sub, I added the Cyberlink info to the config.xml, for both the Navigator (yep I know, I wasn't supposed to worry about that one) and the <SupportedDVDDecoders> as you suggested and they both come up now in the dropdown, yay......
Unfortunately, my original problem of not being able to navigate the DVD still exists. even if I try every combination of Navigator and Video decoder on the DVD tab

Sorry, I'm not really sure then. I use the default DVD Navigator and Cyberlink decoders and have no problem navigating the DVD menus.
