This looks a bit fishy to me:

Code:
2008-04-24 19:55:26.361    VERBOSE    ConexantRecorder::StartRecording(1, 1, 2, 0)
2008-04-24 19:55:26.361    VERBOSE    target filename:
2008-04-24 19:55:26.361    VERBOSE    getSetting(DeinterlaceMethod)
2008-04-24 19:55:26.365    VERBOSE    Capture Device is based on BlackBird architecture
2008-04-24 19:55:26.365    VERBOSE    Capture Device is using Conexant (derived) drivers

It seems to me that you set up your capture card as a conexant/blackbird, but in your first post you say you are using

i didnt look at the logs
but when you added your card what happened when you ticked the box that says only show devices on this machine
what is this hp express card anyway
if analog does it have the hardware mpeg encoder
and if digital does it have bda drivers

It is this tuner.

When I ticked the box that said only show devices detected in this machine, it chose Hauppauge HVR-1800MCE (Analog). I do not know if it has the hardware mpeg encoder. The Tuner worked fine with other Media Center programs (but they weren't freeware).

Sorry, but I don't know anything about the HVR-1800MCE. You'd better wait until someone (sub?) comes around to tell you your next step.

looking up the specs for the card(hvr1800) it says it has mpeg encoding so if it is one of them then it should work
if you go into the gvpvr folder and open the tuning assistant does it work ?

I can see the channels just fine this way. It goes through every channel and tells me its Channel number and Frequency number, but it doesn't it add it to GB-PVR of course.

nop you write down the numbers
then when you add the card
select the hvr1800
then select your epg source
hit update epg
then add the number the tuning assistant found and match them up to your epg
epg name on left channel number the tuning assitant on the right

Run filtercheck.exe from the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log that gets created and I'll take a look.

I ran it and it said it made the FilterCheck.log, but I can't find the log file (I'd expect it to be in the log folder, but it's not there either). The Windows Vista Search tool is useless, of course (half the time it can't find the file even when I'm looking at it with an opened folder; for example, it couldn't find filtercheck.exe), so it couldn't help.

Try copying it to a directory like c:\temp and run it from there. Vista may not like creating the log file in "c:\program files".
