Just as a note, GBPVR will only use the 1st mux listed for each type, so if you have 2 cyberlink muxes installed it will only use the first listed (better to unregister the one that doesnt work and then register a new one to try). The reason i mention this is that i had to go through a few to find the one that worked best with my setup, Well i actually ended up using the ATI mux, as it works best for me.

I also encountered problems with transconding dvr-ms files to MPEG, and you may be better off just recording to MPEG as you are essencially doing this when transcoding the file (ie saves yourself one step in the process and perhaps time when converting to DVIX.)

THanks imagn,

Regarding the ATI mux, I have a new ATI PCIe card (1550x) with the ATI driver installed. would that be all I need for the ATI mux to convert? ATI is listed on the misc2 tab, but not cyberlink, even after installation of PowerDirector.

Mpeg would still save me some space over raw dvr-ms which is my goal here.

It sounds like you have an ATI mux installed, and thats all you need to use it. i would set it as the muxer and test a recording.

Or use Mux checker and you can see if its listed there, but usually if its listed i think it exists.

So give it a try and see how its works for you

Was in a hurry and just set it to convert to MPEG-2 and hoped for the best. The convert log failed stated it was still looking for the Cyberlink stuff.
I'll have to use a Mux checker and dig deeper.

Ok, so according to a post from sub here,
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post285237
a missing piece of information has filled in a blank.

GBPVR will only use the Cyberlink Mux to convert things to whatever, during the maintenance time specified.
What Imagn stated above was for me to go into Config and change the mux from dvr-ms to ATI MUX.

The reason i was trying to keep dvr-ms as the mux was because i read that it is more tolerant to signal issues etc. I then wanted to convert things at a later time to save space.

So now, I will go set the mux in config to ATI MUX and test some recordings. I should then see mpeg-2 files for all my recordings from then on I assume.

Thanks,

You are correct, the reason i suggested this is because when you transcode the dvr-ms file it will need to convert the file to mpeg anyway, while converting to what ever you asked it to convert to, well atleast i think thats whats going to happen, so instead of waisting time after the recording, just use the ATI mux to record to Mpeg2 and then it will save you some time. I was just cautioning that you may need to try a variety of muxes to get one that works well with your system.

thanks imagn Smile

and that's where the problem may come into play. last time i tried the ATI mux, the picture looked like a stop motion animation. Smile But it makes sense to check it out again.

appreciate it.

I had the same problem, i have since solved it. i found for me that that playback of the ATi recordings were so stuttery it was unbareble, but i could stream them fine to my PCH, so i figured it was a problem with the deocors. here comes the confusing part.

It turned out that it was the mpeg splitter (this is the default one that comes with windows) - This has nothing to do with the decordors that you can change in config.exe

You can however change it. What fixed it for me was downloading K-Lite Codec Pack 3.9.5 FULL
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_li...c_pack.htm

And when installing it, there was an option to change the default splitter to the cyberlink splitter, and this has since solved all my playback issues. I now get perfectly smooth playback from the ATI mux, where before i got very jittery playback

See here for other suggestions as well regarding the spitter

Worked Like a charm. as soon as I installed the codec pack, playback worked. I chose to install everything.

Thanks. I've seen reference to the K-Lite codec here, but stayed away because i had bad experiences when K-Lite first came out long ago, and I figured what I had was fine. Ha, no.

Yes, i was reading elsewhere in the forum about the fact that during playback GBPVR just uses what your system has available, so this makes sense.

Thanks imagn you made my day and saved me from buying a larger drive to compensate. The HD images are still loud and clear..
