Thanks -- the autologin info was helpful. I'm experimenting with that now, using a non-standard port to try to hide a bit. In the end, if someone finds it and really wants to delete my recordings, it won't be too terribly tragic.

I decided to go at this another way. I left the password field blank in the config and entered a secure username. Basically, the username is now as secure as the username and password combo were before. This works from my phone and I don't have to mess with the autologin and opening it up to all Verizon users. I've also chosen a non-standard port, so I feel comfortable with it being secure enough for the particular application.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Well after some limited experimentation between party's this weekend i found that my Palm TX access' web admin fine from outside the network so it appears to be something peculiar with sprint or the newer version of blazer loaded on the phone. I didn't get an opportunity to try net font browser to see if that would work.

I also didn't get a chance to see if kinoma would play the streams with the palm tx. I did find that orb doesn't work very well outside of sprints higher speed internet areas. Way to many buffer pauses even when trying to stream music. I will try that again tomorrow at work as i should be in the higher speed internet coverage. Also i will need to transcode some of the files to see if they stream smoother. I saw something somewhere out there that there is a way to optimize kinoma for smother play but i am still hoping to figure out the remote access through web admin to eliminate orb altogether. I just don't like my stuff passing through someone else's trans-coder.

I really can't wait until true mobile wimax hits my network and i can get rid of this inefficient cellular internet. True mobile broadband is wonderful.

The no password trick worked for me. I'm guessing that the username does not undergo the same encryption that the password does. I just setup a username that is secure enough and left the password field empty, and that did the trick for me. Hope it works for you, too.

On this topic, has anyone thought of writing a stripped down mobile version of EWA? I find that the application is too big to use on a mobile phone. It there was another version just for mobile phones that would be awesome.

I agree a light version or mobile version of the web page would be nice. I got it working on my centro by eliminating the password and it seems to work good. Now i just need to find a way to get streaming to work other than using orb. However i have to say that orb has been working fairly good. I just does not have the codec versatility that i would like. Also i am not thrilled with Kinoma player but it works for now untill i come across another player that can handle streaming.

you can already set it to a mobile skin and uncheck the unimportant tabs and guide information in the config tab to reduce it's size and load time.
I use it to schedule recordings on a sony (unsmart) phone quite successfully using opera mini.
The only 'fault' I have with it is that the auto text wrapping / screen formatting often moves a link or a check box away from it's description - but this is common with all websites unless they have been drawn specifically for really low res screens.

Thanks for the opera mini suggestion. I downloaded it & can access the EWA fine (haven't tried streaming or anything, but at least I can schedule recordings when I'm not near a PC).
