 You mean there's not a world wide conspiracy to keep Steve getting his HTPC buttoned up and finally in the entertainment center????
I see that Seagate has some hd testing software . . . when I get home I'm going to give it a shot and make sure the new drive checks OK, it is a refurbished drive after all and after two DOAs in a row I'm not overly confident in Seagate any more!
It's just strange - the live TV pic has always been good before I ever load any codecs (and all I load are the Divx ones you recommended and the DVD ones from another thread), but it's definitely NOT been good on the last loads on the new drive!
Something is amiss . . . is it IP based and you're reaching out and screwing with me from down under, or ???? (why else would ya be up at o-dark-thirty on a Sunday???? :confused
It'll be a couple hours before I get home, more on the continuing saga later.
Just got home and I decided to play a bit before running a bunch of hd diagnostics.
OK, I unistalled GBPVR. It left the Devnz directory so i deleted it. I rebooted. Then I redownloaded the BGPVR install program. I then installed it and it said everything went fine and I clicked finish. However, when it finished isn't it supposed to run the config program? It didn't. I pulled up the config program and it seems that the config defaults aren't being loaded - the use live preview mode is NOT checked and the directories for video, music, and photo are all defaulted to the root (c:\) . . . that's not correct is it? It's supposed to run the config automatically after install and it's supposed to load some defaults, isn't it?
Hmmm, OK, then is the use live preview mode if possible supposed to be checked by default? If it is then what would keep it from being checked?
Is the config supposed to automatically run after the install?
So far I've got things running - the live preview mode has the channel changes going and I switched from system default to Mpeg video decoder in play back and now the live tv video is good again.
So, it looks like when I switch drives the system defaults just don't get set the same as when I use the IDE drive. I can live with that, but for the life of me I can't understand what a simple drive change has to do with it!
