Tuning set to antenna, as thats how I get my signal so yes.

tuning assistant utility doesnt pick up all the channels for some reason do you think thats where the problem is? It was working perfectly fine yesterday!! any ideas on how to resolve it?

By the way all the replies have been very helpful thanks for your time and effort Smile

The Microsoft antenna tuning tables for NZ are only VHF. You have to select 'cable' instead. Try 'cable' with the tuning assistant and it should find all your channels. You'll need to update your capture source to match.

config>capture sources
channels
if your epg source has been set up right you will have a list of stations
the right hand side you put the number in there
tv1 would be " 1 "
tv2 would be " 13 "
prime "319"

cant remember the rest and depends where you are in he country and you will have the right numbers from the tuning assistant anyway

post a screen shot of your entries
sounds like you put them in the wrong place or you didnt change it to cable

if the tuning assistant is picking them up then the tuner is fine

Thanks Mate I will however before I do that I set the Tuning assitant utility to Cable however I didnt realise that the Capture source analog had to be set to cable as well.

I just changed that, it was set to antenna, doing a manual record that will start in a min and will run for 10 mins.

I will report back with the outcome and a screenie if required.

Thanks for all the help so far much appreciated Smile

you can do a instant record pressing ctrl+K from tv guide
then once its recording click on it again and play will appair press that and you can watch it while it records
or just try and watch live
you may need to change the setting on misc tab for live tv (use live preview mode tick box)if you find it doesnt work

Yaaay Thanks mate it WORKED. Thank you sooo much for your help and have a great Xmas you really made my day.

Now I have one final question please, when I setup the application on Friday night for the first time, I didnt have to set the tuner to cable and I didnt have to fiddle around with channel numbers, it just worked.

Why did I have to do it this time around?

Now about watching, I dont know but i cant use GB PVR to watch anything as I only get a blank screen however I can hear the audio. but I am not too concerned with this as long as I can record and watch it with VLC I am a VERY happy man Smile

Also if I can ask one more question please about padding and recording shows back to back. For example there are two shows that I want to record that are scheduled to air from 6-7 and the next one from 7 -8. If I have padding set to 5 mins pre and post would it stop the first show 3 mins before its finished so it can start the next show 3 mins earlier or how would it behave?

Any suggestions on a reasonable padding time. I currently have it set to 5 mins but I am finding that it doesnt work particularly well with shows that run back to back as the first show gets chopped up but I can always watch the end of it in the start of the second show recording.
