How do you know nothing else is damaged? I'd send it back anyway just in case.
I'm still confused by it's quirkiness. I recorded the same exact program on 2 systems. 1 with the 2250 and the other with the 1600. The final sizes were different by much more than I would have thought. Settings in GBPVR were exactly the same. I also recorded the same program with the ATI 650 and the 1600 and 650 file sizes were both 4gb while the 2250 ended up with a 3gb file. I can tell the difference in quality but it's not worth worrying about other than my damn curiosity.
I am using the most recent pre-release drivers dated 12/29/08.

I am sending it back for a replacement. I was going to wait a day or two so that I could try to figure out why you can't find QAM channels with it. Are you able to get QAM working in GBPVR with it?

No luck at all with QAM even with the latest drivers that are supposed to be better. QAM is fine with this card and Vista MC and QAM is working fine in VMC with my HDHomerun but on I'm not able to get QAM with GBPVR with my 2250, my 1600 or HDHomerun. I have been able to pick up some channels with my ATI650 but none tune it while more than 100 show up.
I'm sure as the drivers mature, things will improve.

You can't get QAM in GBPVR with the HDHomeRun either?

No, with either the 2250 or the 1600 and with HDHomerun on 2 systems running the last 2 releases of GBPVR. I know Mike was playing around with it and had problems as well but he got further along than I did.

I went back to see what XP could offer with the July 16 Hauppauge drivers and so far using the Center frequencies of QAM manager I've been able to pick up channels in GBPVR with the 2250 and HDHR. I've not had time to see if any actually tune in or if this will work without crashing and have to run out for a few hours but I will post back later if things are working.
Also WinTV tuned in a number of QAM channels.

Yep, I'm able to get about 13 QAM channels with HDHR and the 2250. The only thing I did differently was to install the latest version of GBPVR. I wonder if I should try the older drivers one more time in Vista. However, this would not effect the HDHR in Vista. More playing is needed but I wonder why things are now working when they weren't before and why XP is working better than Vista.

Using the latest beta drivers for the 2250 on Vista, I could not get a lock on any QAM signal in WinTV or GBPVR. Decided to run hwcclear and install the drivers from the CD. I could not get them to load, hcwclear broke the Windows BDA. I used the HDHomeRun Setup to repair the Windows BDA installation and then I was able to get the drivers from the CD to load. Using the CD drivers, I was finally able to get QAM in both GBPVR and WinTV.

Here's my two cents...
I'm building a fresh machine to replace my under powered machine. The mock up of the new machine currently has 2 2250's and I'm able to recorded 4 QAM channels or 4 Analog channels at once. The biggested issue I have is that GBPVR still doesn't know that the capture device is tied up recording a digital channel when an analog recording pops up.

I'm not exactly sure if I have the devices added correctly but I have 4 analog (1,2,3,4) and 4 digital (1,2,3,4) devices.

Make sure the following line is under the [Hauppauge HVR-2250] sections in both your direct.ini and bda.ini (also under the (QAM) entry in bda.ini):
Code:
SHARED_NAME=Hauppauge HVR2250
