But if you add it to the title then you, I, and everyone else out there that has their recording list set to record by title will have to change their recording list.

Yes, you have to add a recording for new shows if you have them marked with an *, but it's a small price to pay for such a nice feature. Not only does it keep you from recording re-runs but it also generates a new folder so you can keep the current runs separate from the re-runs. It also makes scanning the program listings much faster as the * is part of the title so it shows up on the grid and you don't have to read the description to know it's a new show.

Read up a bit on UltraXML and the other enhancers and I think you'll see that marking the show title with an * is one of the most popular features.

If it could be toggled with a check box during setup though then everyone would be happy - those who want that identifier on the title and those who don't.

Is there any update on this thread? Has the extra EPG info been added for SD users?

Would you mind letting me know what extra fields you're adding (maybe in the prerelease forum) so I can work that into the new Ultra Enhancer?

sub Wrote:I'm not keen on adding new database & screen fields etc for this data that isnt available in other EPG services, but if you want this extra info encoded into some of the extra fields, then I could probably do this. If thats what you want, give me some indication of how you'd want it encoded. (by encoding I meaning adding stuff to the description or title etc)

I am of the opinion that XMLTV is the international standard for what data would "nominally" be included in EPG source data. It is not region or provider specific.

Ideally, shouldn't all elements supported by a current XMLTV DTD be available in a current release of an HTPC's EPG, at least as options? Title, Start and End Times, and Description are a default minimum, but the ability to add any or all available DTD elements from their data source to the displayed guide should be the user's choice. And by that I mean additional elements/fields in the display of a program's details, not putting data from different elements such as data from the credits and/or ratings elements into the description or title fields.

http://xmltv.cvs.sourceforge.net/xmltv/x...iew=markup

Sub, I realize that would require major changes to the database structure, etc, and I wouldn't ask you to make it any sort of priority to implement such functionality, but does that make sense, even if not realistic?

Sub, just curious if this idea made the cut for 1.4.7?

I understand, and don't know how you do what you do. Thanks.
