I also have huge problems with skip and prev on my mpg recordings. I have tried philly_phenom's comskip work around but to no avail. Even trying "#"+prev sometimes put me forward rather than back.

Anyone still with this problem?

There certainly is a problem with files that show a bad timeline http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43597 and sub needs to fix this when he has time. Whether it is comskip or # skip the logic is similar and.

If the GBPVR time is correct as I mention in that thread, the file can still be bad if the file's internal time code is off. You didn't provide any useful information like the file type (mpeg ts/ps, HD/SD, x264 etc) but if you are using an mpeg mux try using native ts, a mux can add errors. If you already do use ts files, using the tsMuXer program could fix bad timestamps.

I'd be happy to work on getting to the bottom of this but without logs there is not a lot more I can offer.

martin, its an analogue recording from an old Hauppauge PVR USB2 box. Will provide logs when I reproduce the problem next time.

I do not have the problem if I turn off comskip.

Thanks,

Martin, I have now tried Subs patch from http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=15 but the problem remains. I am now also attaching the MVP log files. Let me know if you need any additional info.

Many thanks,

I figure the forward skips are find but the backwards skips are off by the amount of a start position skip, which does seem to come from a commercial right at the beginning of that file.

My bad! I never went back to check the comskip files after adding the proposed comskip.ini settings:

Code:
always_keep_first_seconds=5
always_keep_last_seconds=5

I assumed that these setting would prevent this from happening, but I was wrong. I am attaching the comskip.ini file and all comskip files related to the recording watched in the log file. Let me know if you are able to help or if I should take it with erik in the comskip thread?

Thanks,

agerdin, I haven't forgotten this thread, and I think I might have found a problem in mvpmcx2 code if the skip happens before NMT starts playing the file, unfortunately I cannot duplicate the scenario.

As for comskip I don't use it or know it, but I'd find out from erik if you are configuring it properly. I don't interpret that setting to mean leave 5 seconds at the beginning, I read it to mean if the commercial is 5 seconds or less don't include it.

Thanks Martin, i have actually asked Erik in the comskip forum and awaiting an answer http://www.kaashoek.com/comskip/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=876. As far as the setting goes I guess its up for interpretation. This is from the comskip change log:

Code:
Changes in 0.80.023
- Added parameters always_keep_first_seconds and always_keep_last_seconds, Set them to the number of seconds at start/end you always want to be regarded as show.

Ill post any update here. Let me know if you need help reproducing the error. I guess its hard if you dont use comskip yourself.

Funny, what I read was this

Code:
always_keep_first_seconds=0
;Any commercial at the start shorter then this amount of seconds will be regarded as show
