At 7:58 and 8:58 on the 15th you're getting E_FAILs. Here's the first in GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log:
Code:

2009-10-15 19:58:01.453    VERBOSE    E_FAIL
Is that the time of the failed recordings?
Edit: Answer seems to be yes for Fringe (didn't check the others) - looks like it's not connecting to the encoder pins. Check your driver/encoder installation (as usual, sub can probably give better advice).

Perhaps updating the driver for the 500. The PC defaulted to drivers for it... should have known better.

What version of the drivers do folks use?

actually I think the EFAIL error is normal for the 150 card (from searching the forum)

(I just spend ages looking through the logs trying to find a clue - as a bit of a challenge!)

You defo want to be using latest drivers from hauppague, not the windows ones.....

This message seems rather interesting.

if drivers don't fix it, you might want to disable all the many plugins you are running to simplify the diagnostic process. (rename plugins as -plugins and create empty plugins)

Has there been any progress in this?

I have started to experience recordings on my ovr500 that seem to be imcomplete. What is intersting is that some recordings are fine when I delete the comskip edl file while others are clearly stopped recording.

Before this happened i was experiencing weird pauses in my mpeg files but that cleared about after a week. Now my hdpvr feels it needs to stop recordings and i have decided to look into it further by uninstalling the latest gbpvr and installing an older version but no picture for my ts files made me go back to the latest version...

I just deleted all my logs and will try to get to the bottom of this.

I recently installed a new drive and everything was fine for 3 days and then the problems started happening so i have been searching the forums for similar problems.

I suspect the problem could be with the new drive or perhaps a codec?

good luck

yes the drive is formatted NTFS and I experience the same problem on another drive I just set pvrx2 to use so I am at a complete loss now.

everything is very unreliable so I am thinking of installing windows from scratch and giving it ago

but first going to kill all my codecs

I've got a bad feeling...
I realized, this was a WINTV-PVR-500 MCE

Does the MCE have onboard MPEG2 encoders?

mine is a pvr500 with mpeg encoders. I just uninstalled all the garbage that were media related such as codec packs etc... and installed Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2008-09-21.exe

and so far no freezes and my hdpvr is working solid. When I had the freezes watch a particular recorded show it would make the hdpvr light go out and it's been a long time now and the file is playing and I am recording so we'l see

still to early to tell but so far so good.

Next test will be to tell pvrx2 to use the new drive and i'll record max and watch a show and let it run for a few hours to see if the problem is still there.

Okay, happened again tonight.

First, I downloaded the drivers from Hauppuage for the 500 and installed them. (The file was mce_cd_v32.zip) The Installation program said it installed completely.

I set PVRX2 to record 4 shows. 1 starting at 7:00PM and the other 3 all starting t 8:00PM. My wife and I watched the 7:00PM show as it was recorded, and it went all the way to the end of the show. Then I stopped watching PVRX2... I let it record. It started all 3 shows, but 1 only got to 10 minutes (Scrubs, was supposed to be 30 minutes), the other 2 only got to 14 minutes (Smallville and Project Runway, both 1 hour shows).

PVRX2 still shows both shows as 'Recording'.

i seemed to have cured my recording problem by uninstalling all the codec packs on my system and using the one mentioned in my post

I am recording 2 mpegs and one hdtv recording and watching one hdtv recording on the drive I thought had problems and not a hiccup so far

i'm glad I didn't go through the hassle of installing windows

http://www.soft82.com/download/windows/c...odec-pack/

We appear to have had similar problems since 80 percent of my recordings from the last couple days were incomplete recordings and most under 10 minutes.
