It has the IR extender jack, which I am using to reach to the front of my Motorola STB so as to use a single blaster to control both. I really do think I will exchange the beanbag & hope that they can tell that port 1 doesn't work. That way I will get the return shipping costs back.

in the irbus.inf it says that one is the only one of it's kind..
USB\VID_045E&PID_006D ; Microsoft SB
Microsoft SB must mean 'single blaster'
Microsoft BB is known dual blaster, Microsoft SF is receive only "Snowflake" [no blasters at all]

so second port may be disabled in hardware, tho not electrically, it's in the chips...
[no logic to handle second one]

so probably have to get another one...*any* other one besides that model...it's the only SB in the list...
tho it may come packaged to look different...seems like a reference design from microsoft..

When I used HIP and net2hipsend on a DC50x, only IR port 2 worked, 1 was always dead. This led to some hair-pulling when I mistakenly plugged into 1.

but did you have that same hardware? i believe it's about that specific hardware id...
every other one i've tried both work...
i do notice on that one's circuit board, traces are missing from one side..

i still have to try using 2 dongles at once with hip...Big Grin
[then could have as many as you wanted..]
i know youy can have more than one installed, windows doesn't care..
just addressing them separately may be tricky..

My box isn't an HP box it says SMK on the bottom. I believe it came with my Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2. The one I have looks like the HP box, but doesn't say HP. In taking mine apart the numbers on the circuit board are:
AXX000-3800F
401AXX-026-01F

The number inside the plastic case on a sticker is:
50315A

I found one on e-bay that has 2 sender cables with it, so I'm hoping that it will work with 2 boxes. It is a black box that says microsoft on the top of it.

aha, you *can* use 2 mce dongles at once....Big Grin
one will get busied out by first program run [hip, etc.], then running any other control program will have to use the *next* not-busy hardware..
or even the built-in mce2005 blaster support for second one...*any* other program really
[hip will control one at startup, making it 'busy' so any other software will only be able to use second one]
i updated my mceblast.exe to be faster using mceirplay.exe [for really simple blasting only solution]
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?p=120740

i'm trying to find a way to get other remotes to turn machine back on during suspend..
i found the data i need to change, just need to find the data to change it to..Smile
[anybody got a haup. 45 button remote .ccf file?]

cheap irblaster here..http://www.irblaster.info/ 12$ serial
[works with lirc, maybe with hip using lirc plugin]
info for setup with winlirc and DTA box with lirc.conf http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/for...cgi?909540

I am having troubles getting mceblast to use the 2nd beanbag. I have a Microsoft beanbag & an HP beanbag.

For the HP one
Hardware id: USB\Vid_045e&Pid_006d&Rev_0200
Driver: IrBus.sys
Label: eHome Infrared Receiver

For the Microsoft one,
Hardware id: USB\Vid_0471&Pid_0815&Rev_0000
Driver: MCEIR.sys
Label: MCE Infrared Control

I attached both beanbags & am running HIP. I am using a Hauppauge remote. I point the remote at the MS beanbag & all the buttons work. I have one blaster going from port 2 on the MS beanbag to the STB. I have another blaster going from port 2 of the HP beanbag to the DTA's remote receiver. I have config setup to have GBPVR use net2hipsend to control the STB (MS beanbag) & mceblast to control the DTA (HP beanbag). I used learn-digits.bat to teach the DTA signals with the HP beanbag. GBPVR is able to change channels on the STB as expected, but not the DTA.

When I run mceblast directly, I notice the ir blaster on the MS beanbag flashes, but not the one on the HP beanbag. As a test, I learn the STB remote signals with the HP beanbag & am able to send them to the STB on the MS beanbag with MCE blast while HIP is running.

I can try setting the MS beanbag to use IrBus.sys.

are you sure hip isn't controlling the HP one instead of MS one?
whichever one hip is using *should* be unavailable to mceblast...
now the order is probably up to windows and may get changed if hardware is unplugged/replugged..

make sure that hip can blast thru at same time mceblast can...
sounds like they're using same one, or just got switched...
make sure not to unplug/change usb ports as that messes the whole order up..
what version hip you using?

hmm, maybe it worked on mine cuz i have 2 exact same units...
[so it made a driver conflict]
or maybe an XP thing? what os?

and might wanna try forcing the 'alternate driver' on the hp one if just for blasting use..
oh and hip and mceblast can share same files..so learning with hip *may* produce better files, plus it has a tester built-in..

I changed the drive for the MS beanbag to IrBus.sys. Now HIP uses the one & mceblast the other.

Hey pBS,
I changed your script to allow a port to be specified & to handle the current working directory, or CWD. When the script executes, the CWD is the gbpvr directory. I had to have it look for the 1.a type files in the script directory. Then, when MceIrPlay executes, the CWD is the script directory & it couldn't find the blast.ir file it had just created in the gbpvr directory. I attached a zip with my executable that I call newmceblast.exe if you want to look at it. I also included a script I wrote called RunInfo that logs the username, CWD and arguments when it is called. I had never used AutoIt3 before & just wrote that to help me debug. The info gets written to C:\Temp\RunInfo.log. At some point, I will change it to look in the registry for the location to write the log, but for now it is hard-coded. I just had config use RunInfo.exe instead of mceblast.exe to help me realize that the CWD was the problem. Then, I switched it back when I had fixed the script. Thanks for all your help in this.

The only problem I have now is that I'd rather have HIP use the MS beanbag & mceblast use the HP one. I find that the MS beanbag seems more accurate as a receiver. The HP seems to transpose some key presses. I also want to make sure that it won't change everytime I reboot or restart HIP. I'll have to try to figure out how to control which one is found by HIP. This means I can keep the HP beanbag since the store in Hong Kong said they'd refund me $3 if I didn't return it. I can use the money to buy a USB hub so I can plug both beanbags in without using too many USB ports.
