I get 0-size recordings. Live TV results in a blank screen. If I drop the memory down to less than 4gb, the card works great. I've tried a number of 64-bit drivers from ATI. They all have the same result. I'm wondering if something else in the chain is not compatible with +4gb of RAM.

I've attached the filtercheck.log and a sample of a typical NRecord.log. One thing I noticed is that the hardware encoder on the 650 isn't found by NextPVR even when memory is under 4 gig and the card is working..

Code:
about to look for encoder
About to look for hardware encoder.
AttachHardEncoder@1
Unable to get pin medium
Hardware encoder not found. Attempting to fall back to software encoder.

Graph filter list:
- NPVR Writer2
- NPVR Writer
- Infinite Pin Tee Filter
- MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus
- MainConcept (HCW) Layer II Audio Encoder
- MainConcept (HCW) MPEG-2 Video Encoder
- ATI AVStream Analog Capture
- ATI AVStream Analog Xbar
- ATI AVStream Analog TV Audio
- ATI AVStream Analog Tuner

Has anyone else got analog record working on a machine with more than 4gb of ram?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

i believe the ati pcie650 needs a edit to devices to add it's weird encoder..it's a mux/encoder in one, iirc...
post the entire filtercheck log...it's in another category...Smile
[at least it did a while back]
and since it can't use the hardware encoder, it's falling back to software encoder...[why it's working]
maybe the software encoder really has the issue w 4+gigs...?

"ATI AVStream MPEG2 Multiplexer" should appear in filtercheck logs..

Thanks for the replies.

The PVR-150 doesn't have 64-bit drivers. That's why it doesn't work with more than 4gb of RAM. This card has 64-bit drivers so in theory it should work.

I hope your theory is right pBS. I posted the entire filtercheck log. The entry you are looking for is on line 33.

Code:

I have the Diamond equivalent and I remember reading that ATI didn't support WIn7 64 bit http://diamondmm.com/board/?topic=260.0

Hi Martin,

You're link talks about the USB version of the 650. ATI has indeed stopped supporting that device. The link below explains this:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles...ivers.aspx

The PCIe version still has 64-bit drivers and can be found here:

technically you can still use that usb tuner in win7, just don't use both tuners..[i have one of both 650 pcie and 650 usb]
just haven't tried the pcie in a 64bit 4g+ machine yet...i'll check it out and try it in that machine tomorrow and let you know...
those ati drivers are funny, i used a win7 driver just fine in xp, and the xp driver just fine in win7...lol so not sure what the deal is, i think they are all using an old driver framework api, why it's no longer supported...[wdm drivers]

If this is a dedicated pvr machine, extra memory won't help you much at all, not much reason to run npvr[32bit], and most decoders[32bit], on a 64 bit machine....
they can't take advantage of the extra memory, so all it will be used for is disk caching..

Thanks pBS. Let me know what you find out. This is a general server that hosts other services that require 4gb+ memory

just tested that tuner in a win7 64bit sp1 machine with 6 gigs and no problems recording or watching live...[atsc]
so it should be good..Smile
tested with nextpvr 3.4.8
so must be something else that's interfering...

side note: i also have several ati pci 600's and they work fine in that machine also...same driver you linked to... [got them for 5$]
[single tuner cards without hardware encoder...but they work fine w software encode...] encoder unneeded for atsc..Big Grin

oh and 650pcie is a dual tuner.. 1 analog/qam and 1 atsc....you *can* use both at same time..

will check analog here in a few...
when you say 'analog', which input? svideo? composite? channel 3-4 from coax?

I have two HDhomeruns so I only use the 650 for analog. I record a NTSC cable feed.
