OK, so just to make sure I understand, this is a 2 blaster wire, but that won't work for me because I need the MCE reciever too, which I guess is the box connected to the one Mikeh linked?

I'd prefer to not have to buy a third remote since I already have two that will just sit around being useless, but I probably will just get the one mikeh linked just to make things simpler and make sure they work.

You do need a receiver to drive the blaster. If you don't want to, or can't, replace the missing Hauppauge receiver/blaster cable assembly, then I'd recommend the complete MCE remote kit - remote, receiver and blaster (emitter). In the MCE system, the blaster plugs into a jack on the receiver. The receiver uses a USB connection to the HTPC. I don't know if a "universal" blaster will work with the MCE receiver. Probably, but the jack has to match, and I don't know the size, although its probably 3.5mm.

Yeah, universal blasters work fine with the MCE remote dongle (I made the ones I use now - IR emitter, piece of cable and a mono headphone plug)

You could also look at getting a usbuirt, and using one of your exisitng remotes for input, and the ubsuirt to do the blasting to your STB(which is natively supported in gbpvr)

OK, thanks everyone! I've just ordered that set that was linked earlier, cause I think I need to make it as simple as possible! Sucks that it's coming from China so it'll take a while for it to get here, but I'm sure I'll be back then with more dumb questions!
