So I get this problem with npvr only. No changes to hardware or the settings.

Does that help narrow down the issue? Would it help if I posted some gbpvr logs to compare?
I would normally be offering suggestions to help find the cause, but unfortunately I've got zero available hours right now. My day job is working me like a slave right now Sad

Sub,
That's ok don't sweat it.

Gbpvr is working fine at the mo, and in between I'll have a play around with npvr and see if I can narrow down the problem a bit more.
Darrell.

Well I've been using gbpvr again for about week and not had any repeat of the hanging service problem.

All i did was stop the npvr nrecord.exe and restart the old gbpvr service. I still have both gbpvr and npvr installed on this pc. No other changes made to the pc at all.

So am I right in thinking that npvr and gbpvr interact with the tv card drivers in a slightly different way? Given that nothing else was changed I assume that this is an npvr problem rather than drivers etc...

I'll take a look at the gbpvr logs later to see what messages are given when stopping recordings to see if there's a difference between gbpvr and npvr.
Cheers, Darrell.

Brainstormer,
Nope, searched the hard disk, and only have copies in the software distribution folders. Found a log file that indicates that this is part of sp2. Does that sound right?

Currently running windows xp sp3.
Cheers, Darrell.
