@McBainUK - the screenshot in the wiki is not showing the correct files highlighted. you need all the files starting with "hcw_".

The 4 files extracted by 7zip are: .rdata size 1k .rsrc size 71,256k .text size 1k CERTIFICATE size 6k It looks to me that Hauppauge decided to protect their installation file. Jhonsonx42: I have read everything you wrote. If you tried to follow the instructions, you would see the problem. The WinTV7 installation file (the EXE file) does not allow to extract the files. I really appreciate all your help guys.

trust me, the file we're telling you to download (in both the sticky thread instructions and the wiki in option 2) will allow you to extract the files. I just tested it myself. the one you're trying to extract is the current one from the hauppauge site, and that won't work (it has been suggested the current hauppauge download may be able to be extracted with a tool like Uniextract, but I don't know that anyone has ever actually done it)

by the way, once you actually do get your hands on the files, since you're using a hardware encoding device the only file you actually need to copy out and regsrv32 is "HCW_MCMPEG2MUX.AX". the rest of the HCW_*.* files are the software encoders and support files for them.

I was able to extract the files from the direct link in Option 2. I used both 7zip and Uniextract to do it (into diffrent sub-directories). Both have 21 .AX files, but there is no file HCW_*.AX. Am I doing something wrong? Can you please check the file list and tell me which one I need? I have just tried it myself, I think the thing is here that you have only extracted one level. Now right click on WINTV7SETUP.EXE and use 7zip to extract again. What you are after should be in that folder that is created. 7zip may not fully unpack WINTV7SETUP.EXE, which is a WISE installer. Go to the command prompt and run "WINTV7SETUP.EXE /x", then select HCW_MCMPEG2MUX.AX for extraction.

I was able to extract the file. However, when I tried to register it (logged as Administrator), I get an error "call to DllRegisterService failed with error code 0x80070005".

WOW.
I disabled UAC and was able to register the file, THANKS. I would suggest to put it in the WIKI. Now I run the NextPVR, and it finds my card. Then, I need to setup the device (add a Cannel) so I can see the TV. BUT, When I try to add a channel I get an Unhandled Exception from NextPVR: "Key Not Found" The JIT provides a lot of information about where exactly the problem is in the code. Can anyone help me with that? |
