This is probably a factor:

Try using a local directory instead, for both recording directory and live tv buffer directory. Too many things can go wrong when using a NAS.

Ok, stopped the service, changed recording to a local disk and the started the service
Managed to go through about 8 channel switches and it threw the tuner no longer available message

I noticed a new R2 rollup that was released today so I uninstalled everything and reinstalled
I've been able to tune a couple of channels and then nothing:

once i tune a channel, it tends to stay tuned - no random drops
