The failure occurs in mplex.exe. I ran the command line manually and this is the error I get:

C:\Program Files\BeSweet>mplex -f 8 -o "c:\gb-temp\testoutput.mpeg" "c:\gb-temp\
audio.mp2" "c:\gb-temp\video.m2v"
INFO: [???] mplex version 2.2.2 ($Date: 2003/05/13 20:27:15 $)
**ERROR: [???] File c:\gb-temp\audio.mp2 unrecogniseable!
INFO: [???] File c:\gb-temp\video.m2v looks like an MPEG Video stream.
**ERROR: [???] Unrecogniseable file(s)... exiting.

Any help here?

Just as an FYI, but I've had no problems with DVD2MPEG and I'm using BeSweet 1.5. I've used it to rip movies and then created my own batch files to rip DVDs that contain episodes of TV shows (DVD2MPEG is geared towards ripping the "primary" stream on the DVD and TV show DVDs have multiple "primary" streams).

As for the directory thing, yes, it creates a folder underneath your base folder with the DVD disc name, and places the mpeg file in there.

mplex probably fails because of a bad output from BeSweet, although mplex didn't like your video file either.

Try running it manually outside of gb-pvr by creating your own batch file...

Well there is one interesting other thing. I'm using BeSweet 1.4 because 1.5 crashes almost immediately after DVDCryptor is finished. I wonder if DVDCryptor is the actual culprit? Maybe it runs to completion but the output is no good thus causing a problem in BeSweet and/or mplex.

BeSweet 1.4 won't work. It does not create mp2 audio.

What DVD are you trying to convert. Some are not so straight forward. Have you tried multiple disks?

Well, BeSweet v 1.5 is useless for me, it crashes almost immediately after it starts.

BeSweet Version 1.4 "appears" to produce an MP2 --- there is a file called "audio.mp2" and if I double click it it opens in Media Player and its the soundtrack to the DVD (Casablanca) --- so it may not produce a "technical" MP2 but it does produce an MP2 that plays audio :-)

All of which makes me think maybe the DVDDecrypter is the culprit. I have version 3.5.4.0 which is the latest and the only version I can find anywhere I've looked.

I haven't tried a different DVD but I will right after I load BeSweet 1.5.

Well, I'm pleased (?) to report that using DVDDecrypter v 3.5.4.0, BeSweet v 1.5 and mplex with a different DVD (Maltese Falcon) produces exactly the same result, failure in BeSweet within a minute or so of the time it starts working :-(

I'm actually using DVD Decrypter v3.5.2.0... I do seem to remember hearing about a "non-standard" (bad?) version of something being released...

Send me your email and I'll send you all my install files--I keep everything! (although going to bed now so it'll be tomorrow morning).

pauly666:

I cannot tell you how frustrating this is. I used the 3.5.2.0 DVDDecryptor and the BeSweet 1.5 you sent and it failed in BeSweet the same way --- non-zero error code according to the message.
