They probably don't have a rich sister to enable their mania.
I am going to call myself a liar. After I deleted all channels (is that the right way to empty the database? I've seen it referred to countless times but never done it) I went and looked the Devices screen again to see what effect it had, and one of them was indeed set to the wrong input. I can't believe that deleting channels would have done that, so I must have been addled before.
All channels imported from SD, EPG updated, all devices set up PROPERLY, everything is jake. The logs, too. I can't say as to why there were devices 1, 2, 3, and 3 before, but that's gone.
It's worth noting it doesn't matter what the input is set to at the top of the HDPVR device settings screen. It's only important what it was set to when you created your channels. When you import/add channels, it stores a copy of those settings with each channel.
You can see the inputs of the channel in the channel list.
That is indeed worth noting. I knew the channel changer was stored there, it's kinda obvious. I did not know about the device setup being stored with channels. Everything works so well I don't usually have to delve.
One last thing before we sign off: up until last year, I was running 1.2.9 on a machine with two PVR-500's. Then Time Warner went all digital so I did a HVR-1950 thing until January, when they went all encrypted so I was forced to find another way, using the DTA's they provide. Hence the HD PVR2's. And to do that, I had to (finally) go modern with 3.3.8. And to use DTA's, I had to learn blasting. I have struggled with HIP for months, finally coming across a post here that verified that I was not crazy, HIP loses the left/right assignments on restart. I had read of the legendary USBUIRTsend utility, but I could never find a copy until just this week. Fifteen minutes and I was saved and happy. And who wrote that utility? I think you know. <donate>
