0% buffering on some channels in Kodi v15

In SageDCT donator there is an ffmpeg muxing option you probably need. ffdshow tryout are good but I find LAV best overall when Microsoft decoders don't work. That doesn't apply to Kodi though, it uses built in ffmpeg or h/w or both depending on the type.

I've setup the latest SageDCT, but I dont see an obvious option for ffmpeg muxing, is it built in or are you referring to the 'Capture Method'? By default this is set to 'Dump' but there is an 'FFmpeg' option from the drop down menu. If i choose ffmpeg, restart the services on both SageDCT and NPVR, NPVR no longer shows a picture and the timer at the bottom shows a large negative number instead of 0s.

In any case, with the default SageDCT capture method set to 'Dump', TV works in NPVR but kodi is once again stuck at buffering 0% Attached are logs with the default settings of SageDCT 2.7.4, NPVR 3.4.8, and Kodi 15 while trying to view a channel.

Sorry I can't test SageDCT because we don't have CableCard here in Canada. In any case yes I assume it is ffmpeg capture I see this in Kodi though which is suspicious as that looks like the whole mux.

You can enable debug logging in SageDCT somehow it might give more info on the capture when you have ffmpeg enabled

Thanks again for your help with this, I've attached screenshots and NPVR / DCT logs... w/ DCT logging ffmpeg as well... i have debugging enabled but didn't see any further logs...

it does seem like something is amiss with the codecs... i had installed the latest klite codec pack early in the build, then removed it and installed the SAF v6.2.3 codec pack... don't know if that has anything to do with it, or that I'm using the 64bit SageDCT when everything else is 32bit...

I see this in Kodi though which is suspicious as that looks like the whole mux

i did not have the sagedct set to verbose for logging... here is an updated log w/ that setting turned on, not sure if it has any more details

That does look correct but I also need to see the Kodi logs. Also could you make the temp ts file available somewhere copy it after about 10s should be ok.

ok... i went through the whole thing again including kodi... oddly kodi now hangs on 'working' instead of 0% buffering but i'm going to chalk that up to me messing with mediaportal trying to get something working...

in any case... attached are sagedct, nextpvr, and kodi logs and screenshots. sagedct and npvr are set to ffmpeg (SAF v6.2.3 codecs)... you'll see a screen shot of npvr giving me no picture and kodi stuck on 'working' in both cases a TS file was created, I'll PM you a dropbox link to those two files.

That looks different because Kodi never got a chance to play it since it took 6 seconds just for the Ceton to tune it Maybe boost the time to 8000

The KYW file plays okay here on Kodi, and it seems to just have one program which the ffmpeg capture provide. There looks like a signal glitch error in it though.

That was it! I've got tv working in kodi! NPVR live tv still shows a blank screen when testing, even though the file is being created, but kodi is working

boosting it to 8000 allowed me to tune to a channel, hit record, tune to another, hit record, etc... so i can use multiple tuners... so that's good... there was some very very minor picture stutter but nothing i cant live with

kodi has a problem with channels i don't have though, it hangs for about 3 or 4 minutes, then it comes back but when i go to choose a channel i do have, a nextpvr error comes up saying there are no tuners available. I'll try and remove those problem channels from the back end for now and hope my wife doesn't hit one i missed... i dont know how nextpvr handles those channels but any tips would be appreciated..

in the mean time... i will be hitting the donate button for all the help you've provided. Thanks very much!

Sorry I don't know how much I can offer. For the quality I read about this on another forum http://cetoncorp.com/support/index.php?/...-explained If you find some channels are worse (I do on my cable STB, some are much worse I can barely capture them with my HDPVR) I'd use those channels.

I have the same (or similar) problem (i.e., random live-TV channels not playing with "Buffering 0%") using NextPVR 3.4.8 and newer with KODI (14, 15 and 16) and HD Homerun Prime.
