Playback of GoPro Vids 1920x1080 60fps 30k kbps on NMT or in Kodi on RPi2

Just wanted to follow up on this as I am still struggling with the GoPro Videos.

The main issue remains that my GoPro Video stalls for a good 10~12 seconds, before it appears the buffer fills up enough for them to play (e.g. a 3min video is worse than a 30sec one). After they start playing, they are appear to play OK, as you can see the grey buffer line runs ahead of the playing bar.

I have:

• Added an Orico USB-Gigabit Ethernet Dongle to my RPi2 to rule out network issues by converting the RPi2s 10/100 to "not quite" Gigabit betwork speeds, but according to tests, a lot faster than 10/100.
  
• Added a new Gigabit Switch for same reason. Router atatched to the server is already Gigabit. Server is Gigabit.
  
• Added a few seconds (5s) to the "Delay After Change of Refresh Rate" Kodi System/Display setting, as suggested by stustunz.
  
• Checked the RPi2 MPG2 and VC1 codecs are installed (they are).
  
• Tested the Playback from an SSD on the server (no change).
  
• Tested the Playback from a USB Thumb Disk on the Client (Rpi2 only) as suggested by Martin. No Change to symptoms above OK so indicates within the RPi/Kodi.
  
• Upgraded Librelec on the RPi2 to 8.0.0 (I see BrettB has similar symptoms, but his issues are with comskip, on newer Libreelec releases).
  
• Updated the advancedsettings.xml to reflect the revised Kodi_17 names for buffers and the locations (<cache></cache>, <network></network>) in which they reside - see http://kodi.wiki/view/Kodi_v17_(Krypton)_FAQ - my advancedsettings.xml for the (RPi2) are attached.
  
• Revised gpu_mem_1024=256
  
• omxplayer enabled
  
• "Medium" Overlock Settings using Openelec Rpi Configuration Addon.
  

Kodi Logs from runs within Kodi only and via NPVR attached.

I guess I'm asking - am I expecting too much from the RPi2 and will a Rpi3 fix it?

Separately:

Do you think it is worth installing the 2.5.1rc3 candidate, as I like to run all my shows through NPVR for the WAF?
I assume I have to do this manually as per the wiki, as currently I have a repository 1.0.7 by 000webhost and NPVR_2.4.9_by_emveepee installation.
I assume I'd need to uninstall these?

I have updated the repo on xnewa.netai.net you should get 2.5.1 now. It won't help this problem but you should see the OSD in web client now.

As for the problem it seems to be a Kodi problem and you are part of a thread on the Kodi forums, hopefully they will help you out. On one of your samples I do see the same thing on Android and it is even slow loading on x86 LibreElec too, so not just RPi.

Thanks Martin, I will see if I can get that updated NEWA loaded.

Yes I quickly came to the realisation after reading a bunch and then running your suggested tests that it must be Pi or Kodi related; then after seeing how well it actually ran AFTER the slow start, that it was probably Kodi-related, but I really don't know enough to be sure.

This was fixed in the latest KODI Update for the RPi2.
