I don't see an example UpdateEpg.bat in the scripts folder or the NextPvr folder. Only one hit on this forum in June stating the auto-creation of scripts will be in the next release which already happened, so it was said. Where is the file and what app or utility would automate the editing of the EPG file? I presume UpdateEpg.bat will launch when the EPG is updated at the time specified in the UI if the BAT file is in the scripts folder.

Found this in other than Windows>v5 that explains the process sequence. Just need an example bat I suppose.

Instead of using a url for your epg file you would use a filename

In UpdateEpg.bat which does run at the update time you would download the url using curl or wget and create this file.

then you would use a search and replace utility like sed to change the +0000 +0001

You can do this all in powershell too in a few commands but I leave that to you

Hmmm, doesn't sound as easy as simply adding a padding number. ;-) Appreciate you outlining how it's done. Thought I would have to modify every programme start/stop. Replacing all +0100's would be a bit simpler, thanks for this info Martin.

It is not one padding number it is two for each recording you make but I guess you could make it your default, since your endings could be truncated when you have back to back programs and not enough tuners. Not sure what will happen in the case of the odd show that extends to 10:01pm now. You do it once so it takes 10 minutes and then it is automatic

I purposefully didn't include it in the web app since very few people would ever use this, and yeah, it'd probably confusing.

I guess I could at least add the readable "start one minute late" and "end one minute early" to the drop down since that seems pretty much cover what most people need. (and behind the scenes this would be -1)
Thanks sub for fix that allows -1 to be recognized as a valid pre-padding value via browser.

Martin

I am new to NextPVR but I believe I am having the same problem.

My listings guide timing is about 3 minutes off from the actual air time and it is causing problems with my recordings having 3+ minutes of the previous listing show and commercials before what I intended to record even starts.

This is also problematic with my "TV Guide" in NextPVR showing a show has started when it really hasn't. So, I think the solution to which you are referring of addressing the problem with some sort of offset with the xmltv file as opposed to adjusting the recording Pre-padding time would be a more comprehensive solution.  However I went to the other forums page you referenced and I simply did not follow what has to be done to implement this "offset" with the XLMTV file using the "updateepg.bat" file.

Can you direct me to a reference that fully describes what this file does and perhaps an example of one? I tried to follow some documentation on the web  (https://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php...irectories) but had trouble locating the script folder to store the uipdateepg.bat file for my version of Windows (Windows Server 2012) but I think the data location there is "C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts"

Anyway, I'm willing to do the work to read up on this, but I'm just having trouble finding a place that starts where I need it to start for me to understand. Everything I'm finding seems to start "in the middle" using terms and references I don't understand.

Thanks much!

I suspect that you are looking at the wiki for V4 of NextPVR ... It is likely that you are running the current version which is V5 ... The v5 wiki has this ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/components
