Those logs didn't show a uidroid connection, just sub's Android client.  No live TV either. Perhaps the next time uidroid starts hit the Exit and the main menu and then retry.

I am not sure how different this thread is compared to this one from you https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid577322 when you did have  trouble with S21 with the Exoplayer client.  I expect it would continue to work on your Shield if you still use it. We will need to see good logs to see if that problem continues

Maybe make sure you didn't merge DRM channels onto tho the normal channels.

Sorry about that log file I previously posted here, that didn't reflect any UIDROID processing. I thought the log would be cumulative and I certainly had used UIDROID. But I guess I had re-booted after that, which apparently reset the log to empty. Hence none of my UIDROID testing in the log.

And you're right. Looks like from my posts in late 2022 did describe my previous attempts to use NextPVR UIDROID on my S21 Ultra. Seems like I had trouble back then as well, but perhaps it was specifically when trying to access ATSC 3.0 channels.

Also, back in 2022 I was using the APK that was based on EXOPLAYER. Your current APK is based on MediaX, which is why I decided to upgrade my phone app to your latest version and see how things went. Until you pointed out that old series of posts from me I hadn't remembered any of that experimenting.

Anyway, none of that is pertinent to the case today. I am absolutely using the MediaX version of UIDROID, and simply trying to play Channel 2.1 which is ATSC 1.0. So that's MPEG-2 video. And it is producing "unsupported video".

I've now just run a new test, first using SUB's NextPVR app, playing channel 2.1. As you noted, the NextPVR icon in the notification area does turn red when I am playing that channel on my phone. This was a short test and I had both audio and video. Then I closed NextPVR and now tried UIDROID, again to play channel 2.1. And once again, I'm hearing sound but no video -> "unsupported video" message.

I have now re-generated a new LOG file. Hopefully this log file will show you both the first NextPVR client access, and also the3 second UIDROID client access.

Whatever the cause of the symptom, it seems to be in UIDROID itself. And that's because if there was a failure back in 2022 when you were using EXOPLAYER, there is also a similar/same problem using MediaX. And whatever is the issue, it does not affect SUB's NextPVR client app. So there must be some way to handle the MPEG-2 built into his app.

Sub's client is transcoding not playing native which again explains why it works. You would need to enable Direct Play in his settings for a better comparison

The best way to see why is going on in the phone is to go to uidroid setting and enable the EventLogger. A long press on the main screen will get you to settings. After that from adblink after playing there will more information in the Android logs which you can download

. I understand that is harder from a phone, that is not a recommended client for uidroid.

I have now enabled "EventLogger" in Settings. It does confirm that I'm running your latest version 2.1.14 of UIDROID.

(NOTE: the comment in 2.1.14 settings still makes reference to "Add ExoPlayer event logging, check problem stream". Maybe change reference to MediaX?

I will now run another test (this time I'm booted back to my Win7 system, again with latest NextPVR 7.0.1 server/DVR/Guide running.

I'm not sure what I need to do after the test, to get the "Android log" for me to give to you. How does ADBLINK2 come into play here? What are the steps (1, 2, 3, etc.) to get things ready for testing, then perform a brief test, then get to whatever/wherever the log is that you want?

thanks.

(I've not done this before, so please be detailed and specific and clear how to generate the log, and then get it available to the PC for posting here)

In adblink there is an option to view the Android log file. I haven't used it but the documentation is here http://www.jocala.com/help/vlog.html

What you are looking for are the lines like this,

Here is typical ATSC 1 (you won't have supported=YES)

Code:
03-20 08:24:31.403   452  1437 D OmxComponent: mApkName=media.codec
03-20 08:24:31.403  3192  3192 D EventLogger:     [X] Track:0, id=1/49, mimeType=video/mpeg2, res=1920x1080, supported=YES
03-20 08:24:31.403  3192  3192 D EventLogger:   ]
03-20 08:24:31.403  3192  3192 D EventLogger:   group [
03-20 08:24:31.403  3192  3192 D EventLogger:     [X] Track:0, id=1/52, mimeType=audio/ac3, bitrate=384000, channels=5, sample_rate=48000, language=en, supported=YES
03-20 08:24:31.403  3192  3192 D EventLogger:   ]
03-20 08:24:31.403  3192  3192 D EventLogger:   group [

and this is non DRM ATSC 3

I'm sorry, but your information is not getting me where I must be.

(1) ADBLINK2 runs on the PC, not on the phone. Where is this 'log" (presumably created by your EventLogger option)... on the PC or the phone? I assume it is on the phone. So how is ADBLINK2 running on the PC supposed to access the log located on the phone?

(2) When I launch ADBLINK2 and use Menu bar -> Logs -> View adblink log, all I am shown is what I assume is the PC log for ADBLINK2 (as implied by the documentation you pointed to in that URL). And you can "swap" between current ADBLINK2 log and previous session log. But both of these are on the PC, having nothing to do with the phone and any other log created there. They contain nothing at all related to UIDroid and any log which it might have created on the phone.

(3) What did you do to produce that log you've presented in your post above? Obviously that is the EventLogger log. But WHERE IS IT??? On the phone? What is its actual file name, and where is it located? How did you view it, in order to grab those two snippets?

(4) You say you have NOT used ADBLINK2 to access a "log" (which I believe is the PC log anyway, not your EventLogger log on the phone which is where I assume it must be created). So what exactly did you do yourself (since it wasn't ADBLINK2 on the PC) to see the log?

The log is coming from the phone, once you view it or copy it to notepad you should be able to search the text. As I said I don't use adblink but if you aren't seeing anything is possible you didn't connect to your phone first like you did when you installed uidroid.

Again... you didn't tell me if I should have the phone connected via USB cable to the PC and ADBLINK2 running, and then run the UIDroid test.

You say here "the log is coming from the phone"... so where is it??? Is it on the phone? What do I need to do to retrieve it from the phone? Or is it somehow automatically created on the PC (and if so, is this because I have the USB cable connection active or is that irrelevant?)

Tell me exactly the steps, one by one, that you did to create your log, and then how you retrieved it and copied it into Notepad (which is on the PC, not the phone). Where is this "EventLogger" file you speak of????

Yes adbblink needs to be "linked" to the phone just like you did when you sideloaded the apk. This link can be USB or LAN.
Read the adblink document for further information on connecting and the log function.

The log is created by Android on the phone and is constantly rolling so get the logs just after doing the test. This is simply to confirm that your phone doesn't report supporting direct play of mpeg2video which is typical for phones.

Ok. The phone is connected via USB, exactly as it was when I sideloaded the APK (located on the PC) into the phone. And ADBLink2 is open and active and shows the phone USB-connected.

Then I launch UIDroi8d on the phone (the EventLogger option is enabled).

I get to TV Guide, select channel 2.1, push "watch", and the TV window starts playing... audio, but no video ("unsupported video").

What do I do now??? Keep UIDroid running on the phone? Stop it (i.e CLOSE ALL)? What????? Is the log only created as long as the app is still running, so that I cannot close it until somehow I grab the log from the phone? Is there a continuously generated ever-growing log somewhere? WHERE IS IT??? If it is on the phone please tell me where it is!!

You aren't telling me what YOU DID, to get the log from phone to the PC to view/edit with Notepad, if you yourself aren't using ADBLink2. WHAT STEPS ARE YOU PERFORMING in order to get the log from the phone????

Just list exactly the simple steps 1,2,3, etc. that you yourself performed to produce the log you then clipped into that post earlier. How did YOU retrieve the log, since you say you didn't use ADBLink2 to get it. Then what DID you do?  Why do you want me to use ADBLink2 when you didn't?

If you think that pushing the "view logs" button on ADBLINK2 on the PC is supposed to show the log from the phone, you're mistaken. There is NOTHING in what ADBLink2 shows as the supposed log you say is produced by the UIDroid app running on the phone.
