Some information on these predefined tables of frequencies can be found at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library....ing.asp
Sub,

I looked at the MSDN tuning assignments for NTSC USA.  The broadcast and cable frequencies are exactly as I said earlier however the channel #s and frequencies being _reported_ by your program don't agree.

Something is amiss somewhere?

...and just saw your other post about the Hauppauge driver for this v1.5 tuner.  I guess I would have to agree with you.

the wait continues...

Yes, thats exactly the problem.

GB-PVR doesnt actually set the *frequency*. I call a microsoft API SetChannel() which effectively takes a country code, tuning type (Antenna/Cable) and a channel number. The Microsoft API then passes this request on to the Hauppauge device driver. I'm then calling GetFrequency() just for display purposes.

With this particular tuner type, the device drivers dont seem to be living up to their end of the bargain. I'm using the normal method to tell it which channel to tune in, but its going somewhere else.

Hauppauge has definitely not fixed the issue yet (just called them), and I am sure the box says Rev. 1.5 on it for the "broken" ones. They had a note in their tech log as late as Friday 9/3 noting the issue, but no solution as of now (the guy says he expects they will fix it with a driver, but doesn't know when).

They better get a move on or I will have to go test one of the Rev. 1.4's I saw (and purposefully *didn't* chose, DOH!Wink when I bought at CC [Image: sad.gif]

There are rumors that snapstream has an alpha copy of the new drivers (that make this tuner work).

I havent tried it yet (so don't blame me and all that) but it is here

http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showpost.php?p=106428&postcount=33

or you can wait until tomorrow and I will let you know if it worked for me first Wink

Well did it work?

I guess sage has one too but I haven't tried theirs yet either.

There has been a number of beta copies floating around and they work, mostly, for me.

They are a bit weird in that they make wintv2000 crash, so I have re-installed the older ones. It turns out for me that if I slightly increase the "correct" frequencies (by 10000-20000 I think it was), the old drivers work anyway.

BTW, I think 22254 is the newest one, but I would check out shs's ftp site for the latest and greatest if you are going to go that way:

ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/wintv-pvr_250-350/inf/

Good Luck.

I haven't settled on a pvr software solution yet (I am currently looking at http://mediaportal.sf.net as I like the opensource angle).
