sorry for so many posts, but i think i've narrowed some of the problem. So closed captions are on, and then when i right click on the ffdshow icon (that's also running during the dvd), i see this list of filters that are running. When I just click on the Nero Video Decoder, and then press OK, the subtitles are gone. I uninstalled the filter using dshow, but gbpvr didn't even play the dvd. So i reinstalled it.

So what do does the public think? What is it that allows me to just press ok (without changing any thing) that makes the subtitles go away?

Just sounds like something bug with the Nero video decoder to me.

I noticed the closed captions on programs recorded by my pvr-250. They only show up when I use Intervideo decoders. If I switch to Dscaler5, then they are gone.
