My Videos - Future version/update feature request.

jksmurf: go here http://www.sbox.tugraz.at/home/t/tplank/ and download the cdrtools win32 binaries, cdrtools should come with mkisofs, also once you get that, tell me if it does infact work, and then ill update the wiki.

It's not an issue for me, I just had no idea what you were talking about. I wasn't sure If I was supposed have a clue or not. No big deal.

only my videos stores the info by relative name, everything else is absolute. the reason everything is by relative name, is i have many shows on dvds (as avi files etc), and well sometime i put that dvd into drive e: and sometimes drive f:. and if they were stored by relative names i would have to have 2 entries for each video. and if they were automatically deleted if not found, every single video file i have on a removable medium would be gone (and what if the network went down aswell....).

Actually this is why I like My Videos. I can copy the DB to my other computer and it still works. I just need to automate the copy process.

if you think about it, it makes sense. ive been running it this way for ages, and my db is only about 80megs (well if you dont include the my pictures thumbnails, they can be large). the db isnt going to grow to extremes, so dont worry.

Yeah I guess it's not a problem. Mine is only 20 to 30mb's.

yeah but then you would have to run that once a day, im not a big fan of lots extra utils, some are needed, but some are just silly.

I'm not following you. I guess I thought we were talking about a few options.

Import the dat file when My Video's opens.
Import the dat from a util that runs in the postprocessing.bat
or
Something else that runs in the postprocessing.bat pulling the data from the gbpvr.mdb.

I'm I on the right track?

i could make it so it only reads in the .dat file if most of the information is missing for that file. like if title and description are missing read in the file, and store it in the db.
