I dont really know what options the ATI SDK provides, so I dont really know yet which way I'll go. If I could do both, I'd like to let the user select.

That would be great!
I have just ordered a Remote Wonder Plus (Just got in Stock) And I use my GB-PVR as a server...So using a remote without having to activate the GB-PVR would be a dream come true !!! I cant wait... :o

If you "just" want to use the existing ATI remote sw, then here is the link to a GB-PVR setting file that should work with that.
http://remotew.free.fr/plugins.htm ATI have a problem controlling the ATI buttom and some of the other Custom ATI are all "locked" as far as I have read, but maybee you will find a way. Cheers Casperse

Yeah, I was aware of that plugin, but I havnt tried it yet. If it already does pretty much all the keys, then I wont need to bother doing anything, which is always a bonus.

I'm using the plugin now. It works pretty well, but there are some quirks on it.
For instance, there is no back/exit button, just home. Volume works mostly, but in some plugins it acts like page up/page down. Missing are: mute previous channel record It's still pretty usable, overall, but having official support by Sub would be better. Interestingly, the coloured buttons are in the same configuration as the hauppauge remote.

Interesting many people say that the coloured buttons & the ATI button are locked, and cant be programmed to other stuff? Yes I agree Subs support to this is why I have just ordered a ATI remote

is there a remote out there that can simualte a keyboard? Allow me to configre what buttons on the remote = in terms of keys being pressed. so the up arrow might be crtl+L.Arrow or somthing
Also, I'd like it to be IR so my universal remote can clone it .
