Both the HD-PVR and HVR-1600 should be device #1. You only increase the device number if you have multiple devices using the same drivers.

By setting it to device #2, it was looking for your second HD-PVR.

New problem now (maybe it was talked about earlier?): no matter what bitrate I set the capture thru the 'TotalMedia Extreme' software, GBPVR seem to record at very variable bitrates, from 3300 to 5100. What I really need *at the moment* is to capture at a constant 3000kbps (yes I know, it's low), and I'm only able to do it with the 'TotalMedia Extreme' but it uses 20-28% of my cpu! GBPVR uses pretty much nothing...

Any help on that? Thanks.

The bit rates GB-PVR uses are controlled by the AnalogHD.ini file.

Is there another file/setting to have a more flexible audio bitrate choice? 'TotalMedia Extreme' only gives options for AC3 384kbps or AAC 128kbps, I don't need "that much" audio bitrate for a "boring" talk-show, would like NOT to reencode.

Sorry, no. I've not seen information from Hauppauge about controlling the audio bitrate on this device.

Just picked up my HDPVR and trying to get it working with GBPVR... so far I am unable to get any picture in the live tv (works in arcsoft player).

Also i don't have any arcsoft codecs listed in the advanced codecs section of the config utility - could this be the reason? How do I get the arcsoft codes to be listed there?

I have the same issue of not getting any picture in Live TV. I do see the arcsoft codecs in the advanced codecs section. Are there special steps required to get GBPVR to control the HDPVR?

Who needs an HD MVP when we have the PCH

Mainly as when you turn on the MVP it works without the need for OS updates, firmware updates and clients, other than that the PCH is great (not that ive used it), i prefer the easy "plug it in, find the server, it works" system of the MVP, so i will be waiting for the HD MVP.
