Hi B!

My DVB-EPG issues here in europe on Astra 19.E were solved by sub a long time ago. Version 0.95 worked here right out of the box.
The transmitted epg is very good with long programme descriptions. I hope that sub will apply more space in the database for it .. though this has been already discussed.

As Stevie said above, the DVB EPG works pretty well these days. It seems Dish is doing some nonstandard stuff unfortunately, so there isnt an easy way to get it working. I made some very brief comments to this effect here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...tcount=254

I noticed this behavior only first time the graf for live-tv (or recording) is built. After changing to another channel the service name is always passed to the md-plugins the right way.

Yeah, thats pretty much how I'd expect it to work.

It wasnt worth waiting for the name to arrive, and delaying the decrypting.

Well, it's sometimes worth waiting because many "bad" plugins are able to set the working pids by a seperate list. This is much quicker than searching through all available ecms to finally find the working one. For this service name is needed to identify the channel.
Not a real problem when jumping through channels in live-tv. Maybe a problem on start of a recording - for sure, a very minor issue.

Probably there are more important things to do Big Grin

Not to forget that it works as it is now!

Exactly - this is very minor, and the vast majority of people wouldnt even be aware of it.

Is Echo 119 a Dish service? I've been looking into this with btothec's supplied transport stream, but its not looking good. Dish dont use the standard DVB EPG, instead opting for some priorietary solution. I may still add support for it, but it isnt going to be quick fix.

Sub, first off, wanted to reiterate my appreciation for this great app. Also, thanks to you and everyone who helps out on here--I can't even count how many issues I've been able to resolve just by reading everyone's posts.

I'm not sure if you're still looking into implementing a DVB EPG solution for NA/Dish net folks, but I found what appears to be a helpful thread on DVBN (towards the end)--you may have already seen it, but I thought I'd point it out.

I was looking for a MD plugin to pull the EPG data into a file (xml/db, anything), so that I could try to create a little plugin to try to update the GBPVR EPG data manually, but I stumbled upon this first. If you know of any such MD plugin to point me towards, or could use any help from me, just let me know.

Thanks,
JBV

I am a happy long time Dish Network customer and relatively GBPVR user and I have been watching these threads with great interest.

Currently I am controlling my STB with HIP and an MCE IR Blaster and capturing with an ATI 550 card and everything is working nicely. However I am really interested in moving to a DVB-S PCI card and skipping that Digital to Analogue to Digital conversion.

Can anyone point me to a good FAQ or Tutorial for setting up a DVB-S PCI card with DishNet and then perhaps with GBPVR? I am not interested in getting channels that I don't pay for and my goal would be to start using the DVB-S card and simply put the subbed STB in a closet and let it sit unused.

What DVB-S cards work best, what Dish, LNBs work, what DishNet switches work, how do I use my CAM or otherwise authenticate to receive the channels I have paid for, etc. There seems to be so many pieces to this particular puzzle and opportunities to slip up.

Any guidance or words of wisdom greatly appreciated.
