FFMPEG doesn't transcode the complete movie

I have encounted this same ffmpeg bug and have been looking for a solution and finally have one.

I tried various versions of ffmpeg and they all seemed to have this problem.

I tried mencoder and wasn't happy with it.

I tried th Dr.DivX cli and wasn't completely happy with it as it puked on some of the GBPVR recordings and wouldn't convert them. (otherwise I was very happy with it)

Finally I uncovered the WinFF project at http://www.biggmatt.com/

It is a nice simple GUI front end to ffmpeg. Basically a poor mans Dr. DivX. It is useful for when you want to do a manual conversion and to try out various ffmpeg settings.

The real winner is however that the ffmpeg binary and dlls that are bundled with it work. They have always produced good quality results for me and have not displayed the problem of not encoding the entire file. I have just dropped them in place of the binaries that were bundled with GBPVR and the incomplete transcoding problem went away.

The files are dated 09/05/2006 and as far as versioning and compile options look like:

Uisge's solution did not work for me. I desperately need to have my video files compressed overnight because I like to transfer them to my laptop and watch while commuting. However, my football games are getting cut off! Is there no solution?

Don't forget our very own Zprocess utililty (see Plugins Forum) does the same.

Personally I have used another ffmpeg Windows GUI called GUI4FFMPEG (free) with great success (we're corresponding on an issue I have with H264 files). See the VideoHelp Forum for details.
